I need help with treadmills. What kind is the best?

I want a good one but something under $500.

Update:

It's kind of hard in the winter time around here to go out and run with 3 feet of snow and ice on the ground.

Update 2:

I have a hypothyroid and have to take thyroid medication every day so I can't take Hoodia or any other supplement with out getting my doctors approval. Anything that raises the heartrate unnaturally is a no-no. I'm not even supposed to take caffine in any form.

It will be hard to find a "good" treadmill in your price range unless it's on a super sale.

The most important thing is to get something with a stable deck. My sister bought a cheaper treadmill and it was on 4-legs ?????? It was not stable. It was in her price range, but not stable.

I bought my last treadmill at ***** Sporting Goods because it was on a great sale. I don't need a lot of features, and don't use half of what's on this machine, but it's a big solid, wide base machine.

The only way to get one that feels good is to try out a few. Best place to find a "few" so you can easily compare one to the next is to find a place that has a few in the showroom, like Sears or *****. Wal Mart sells them but they're up on a shelf and you can't get on them. Don't buy anything you can't try out.

Also, running will feel different than walking so do both before you buy. You'll feel stupid, but do it!

There are many features and functions to look at when you evaluate a treadmill. Check out the link below to help you narrow down one that's right for you. You should be able to get a reliable treadmill for home-use that's under $500. Best of luck!

I totally agree with not running on a tredmill. Although I would suggest not running on the street because it is uneven. Try to run in the grass or on the side walk. ( I ran on the street and I had to be on crutches for about a week, I didn't even fall or anything.)

Tredmills are really bad for your knees and ankes. (Although I did run on it everyday). I have tendonitis in both my ankles and my knees because of it.

try ebay....im looking for one at the moment aswell and they are reasonably priced...i have seen these sell in retail for $3000 and on ebay approx $600 thats AUD....make sure the treadmill can incline at least 20%, has a 6hp motor as a minimum, and that the running area is large enough for you.....good luck

your best treadmill is no treadmill.

go out and walk, jog, run whatever. see the world you live in up close and personal. Maybe even met someone to walk with and join the greater community.

don't be a lab rat walking and walking and going nowhere.

    escape and be free!!!!!

Just about all of them in that price range are made by one company, no matter what brand name they have on them.

The best one is one that runs.
