'Great' flood believers - can you answer this about the Grand Canyon?
If the Grand Canyon was created by the flood waters of Noah's flood wouldn't you expect it to be like a deep trench? more like a norwegan fjord (glaciers) just look at the peaks in the rock:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon they would not be present if a great torent of water had fled down there - would it?

Whoever said that the Grand Canyon was CREATED by the Great Flood? I am a Christian, and the Grand Canyon was Created by Millions of years of Erosion. I can understand why some people do not want to have anything to do with Religion as there are some pretty weird people out there who do not know the Word of God, and the things they say even make me shiver at times.

Alot of the theories lean towards the river water flowing through there over millions of years have carved the canyon! From glacier run off!?
Some other theories claim that the Continent of North America was actually split in two and there was an ocean separating East from West. So the Great Plains were submerged under an ocean here in North America! As the Continent formed and raised above the sea level it began creating a small river heading through that area Southwesternly creating what we see today.
Furthermore the theory referring to the great flood supposedly took place in the Mediterranean Sea area and flooded into the area next to the Mediterranean Sea creating the Dead Sea. As a matter of fact they aren't sure if that is the right place either. The great flood could've happened almost anywhere and because we weren't there to witness this event we'll never really know!! Wrong era and place. Maybe this is just a misunderstanding and a bad flood of idiocy?

For insight into this and other creation related questons, visit the Institute of Creation Science museum in Santee, CA. What you find there may give you pause. At the very least it is interesting and will give you a clue as to where the creationists are coming from. But, if you go, go with an open mind or the visit will be of little value. I visited the museum a couple of years ago. While I'm not saying that I agree with everything I saw there, I found it to be educational.
When it's all said and done, how the Grand Canyon was formed will matter very little as you lay on your death bed. What will matter is your faith. Is death final or is it a door way? What's on the other side of the door? Are the Christians right? Is there a heaven and a hell?

The Colorado River flows through the Grand Canyon.
The land where the canyon is, is several hundred feet higher than where the river enters the canyon.
Question: How did the river flow up hill before there was a canyon? It would have been damned up.
The Bible says that it did not rain before the flood. But after the waters of the flood had started to recede, the water flowing over this berm would have quickly started to wash it away, and a torrent would have been released that made the canyon in a matter of days.

Does flooding have the same effect everywhere? I don't think so. The norwegian fjord's composition is different from that of the Grand Canyon's and we don't really know if God allowed an uneven washing out of the water later on.

Those peaks could have easily been caused over time by wind erosion.
Also, when you look at the layers of rock, it looks like sedimentary deposits. This happens in water, not ice. And those layers, which are different types of rock, don't build one at a time. If you take several different types of sediment and place them in moving water, you will notice that the heaviest sediments settle to the bottom, and the lighter ones on top. If you then drain the water and let it dry, you would get a similar effect. Just look at Mount St. Helen's. When it blew up, the nearby lake caused the same kind of sedimentary deposits in that area. They are now layered rock and that happened through a catastrophic occurance. Imagine what kind of catastrophy it would require to make the Grand Canyon!

Only an idiot could ever believe the Grand Canyon was formed by "Noah's flood". Consequently anyone who believes that does not have the brain power to think logically and this question will go right over their ignorant heads.

If the grand Canyon was created by the flood (which I do not think it was) Wouldn't there be more Canyons like it all over the world. ?

The grand cannon was created by massive earth quakes. Noah didn't make the flood happen, God did. Read Genesis 6 chapters 8-22.

The flood in Noah`s time was not world wide as many suppose and certainly would not have reached any where near the grand canyon.
