Why do people gain weight as they age?

I don't think the answer is as obvious as it seems, that is, that people eat the same number of calories, but use less energy. If I look around at people getting older, there are a few who are rail thin, but most really get quite heavy. Furthermore, do you think it is possible to prevent this, or is it inevitable?

Simply speaking. Adults normally get less exercise, less sleep, do not eat as healthy (typically), their metabolism slows down as you age and finally other healthy issues can cause weight gain.

As for can it be prevented....of course it can. "Any" person can remain thin, healthy and athletic. By eating properly, moderate exercise and an ongoing healthy mentality any person of any age can have a healthy thin lifestyle.

Seriously, do not begin out with weights which can be too heavy for you, you'll be able to turn out to be injuring your self. See a authentic teacher who can consultant you in a fair weight lifting activities, drink tons of whey protein beverages with complete milk, consume tons of eggs, bread, pasta and so on. some thing that's healthful and can persist with your bones. Don't disregard your culmination and greens both. Hope you're equipped to acquire a few weight.

As people age they grow increasingly lazy, metabolisms slow down etc...

Of course it is preventable... it's up to that individual to maintain their health.
