I have a knot at the base of my neck?
that is very painful.....does anyone know what it might be and what I can do to relieve the pain?

sounds likeyou just have a knotted muscle there. stress anxiety causes it and so does sleeping worng. Try heat compresses if that fails see someone who knows how to work it out with massage. It will hurt but once they are done you will be so much more comfortable.
