King Lear Storms?
I have been reading King Lear by Shakespeare, and there are times when there are stage directives that say {storm} or {storm continues} or something like that. What I was wondering was how in Shakespeare's age it would be possible to make the impression of a storm?

My daughter (our local literary junkie) says that they had a lot of stage hands creating the sound effects. And when I had inquired as to the material used to creat the sounds she told me "google it mom!" haha.

Shakespeare made storms with a metal sheet - many use a wooden board.
get a big chunk of board - hold it in two hands - shake it and hear the effect - metal sheet is even better.
I have one that is the size of a door but quite bendy.
I hold it as if carrying a board and shake it.
