seriously, please go to Google and look up iridium satellites.
That is most likely what you saw.
There are over 60 of these satellites used for communication.
The communication collectors are also very good reflectors. So, if you are in the right place at the right time, you will catch a flash of sunlight reflected of one of these satellites. They are called Iridium Flares.
You can see one of these satellites flare several times a week.
http://www.heavens-above.com/ provides a table of times you can see these.
The light from the flare travels a very narrow band on Earth, just tens of kilometres wide. How bright these things appear to you depends on where you are within that band. If you are near the centre the flares can be the brightest thing in the sky, perhaps 10 times brighter than venus, which is very bright in the evening sky at the moment.
Because heavens above gives exact times and locations in the sky for these to happen you can really trick your friends. get the time and position that a bright one is due and get your friends round. tell them to stare hard at that part of the sky and tell them you will make a bright light appear.
They'll be amazed, and think you are the prophet or soemthing. try it. It works

It was a meteorite. They saw a different one, not the same one. Unless it lasted about 20 sec or so, in which case they might have seen a iridium flare. But it wasn't a UFO. We know what everything we see is - at least, people who look up more than once a year do.

What The Hell!? It Could Have Been A Spotlight, You Know?? Sort Of Like When A New Club Or Restaurant Or Some Junk Opens And They Want To Promote It, You Know?? It Could Have Been Something Like That!!! Maybe It Was A Plane, Why Is Gotta Be A U.F.O!? Well, At Least I Don't Think They Exist, But Who Knows??

before I can answer, did you suspect any time dilation or changes??
When you mentioned that it "was a months difference between them (and) me."..you lead me to believe there was some sort of lost time..
That could be a classic sign that you may have had a close encounter of the third kind (doubt it...you may have only had a close encounter of a first kind).

It was just the pizza hut delivery guy trying to find the right address with his spotlight.
