Kennedy's German was so bad that he said upon arrival in Berlin, Germany something to the effect that he was a Berliner. But the way he actually said it came out as "I am a donut".

But of course he could get away with it because his wife was Jackie. I loved the Kennedys.

A number of our Presidents have had various levels of proficiency at language. Thomas Jefferson was fluent in French. G. Washington spoke some French but not fluently. Teddy Roosevelt, Spanish. I would have to research the others.

John F. Kennedy spoke Germany when he went to the Berlin Wall back about 1962.

I believe President Bush speaks some Spanish.
