Cervix sweep?

Had a Dr appt today, I am due Sat May 12th. I am only at 2 cm, so they did a cervix sweep to see if they could get my body moving a bit faster. This was very uncomfortable but hope it works...it has been three hours since the appt..no contractions yet...how long does this take to get something moving and what are the chances that it actually will get something moving ??

When my doctor did mine I was 38 weeks with my second son.....I know how uncomfortable you are talking...my doc says "Im going to try and help you along a bit" I'm like "WHAT!" ..LOL but anyways I went into full active labor an hour later, got to the hospital and had my son within 6 hours of my doctors appt!!!

It doesnt always work right away though...but good luck! and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I had this done with two out of my three kids, and it did nothing. Your body knows when its ready and even though its dilated to 2 cm, just keep on waiting. I walked around for a couple of weeks at 5 cm! Talk about frustrating!!!! If you do try home induction methods just be sure you read up on them, ask your Dr. about them and are ready for any side effects or outcomes. Best of luck!

    Hey,

    It depends on the baby,

Is their ready to move out then they will.

I had one at about 9am and 12hrs later I was in labor!

I was only about 1cm when I had mine and the doc opt for that because I was getting induced in 5days due to high BP and she said we'll give it ago we've got nothing to lose.

    And it worked!

    Goodluck hope it works!

Usually it will work, just be patient. Don't worry, the baby can't stay in there forever! :-)
