Leaving Y!A?

I have just received a violation notice from Y!A - my answer, in which I (correctly) factored a simple algebraic expression, has been removed.

I cannot think of how this has violated the community guidelines. Any ideas?

Also, has anyone managed to contact Customer Care? In the email Y!A sent me it says

"If you feel this content was removed in error, please contact Customer Care and tell us why."

(with a link to Customer Care)

I have contacted them several times by now and have never received a reply.

I am thinking of leaving Y!A for good.

Update:

I do not care about the points.

What happened is simply unfair, it has happened for at least the 6th time now and it seems one can complain, but no-one will read your complaint.

I do not feel good in an unfair environment, that is why I think of leaving.

You can contest the violation on this page: http://messages.answers.yahoo.com/answers/forumvie...

Funnily enough I posted a similar question recently and was thinking of packing it all in. Somebody answered that I would be letting the morons win. The problem is not with yahoo administrators because the system is automated, but with idiots who report things for fun. Once something has been reported the violation notices are sent automatically, and unless someone human actually checks these out, there's not much that can be done. If it's any consolation, I decided to stick around and since then have had a few regular answerers to my questions who always make my day with witty responses.

Hi, just happened to me last week, some **** was being racist so i told him that and what i thought of him, maybe slightly over sarcastic but nothing offense and received a violation notice. Couldnt believe it but thems the breaks and i just forgot about it (til i read your question that is!), didnt even bother contacting customer care, what does it really matter if you know you done nothing wrong then but dont let it put you off Answers. Im a fairly new member and find its a great way to wile away some spare time.

    Just rise above it!

When I have received a violation for something I believed didn't warrant it, I replied to the email itself and protested, asking for my answer and points to be reinstated. I received a reply in about 2-3 days saying they had reinstated my answer and points.

Don't let a little thing like one person reporting you erroneously make you give up something you clearly enjoy. It can be depressing and frustrating to realise there are pathetic nitwits out there, but the end result on you is minimal, losing 10 points when you already have 10,000 is nothing.

It's a minor injustice, but ultimately it shouldn't stop you from continuing to help people and taking interest in their questions. Put your enjoyment of Yahoo! Answers first, one single erroneous violation shouldn't turn you away from thousands of nice and friendly Yahoo! users.

No ,dont do that,if we all left because of a voilation there would be nobody left.

Ive had lots of them and all for trivial things.

Ive answered thousands of questions and have over 300 best answers so Im hardly a bad person am I,but I still get a violation now and again.

A lot of the time its just kids being stupid and reporting anything they see,or someone who is jealous of you.

Ive known people report you because they didn't agree with your answer and a top contributor said last week he keeps being reported since he got his badge so it could be that.

Laugh it off, your better than them.

I know that they posted some info on the Yahoo Answers' Team blog and they gave a couple of examples of questions that would be one of violating the rules, but with this question that you answered I'm not sure.

As for appealing the violation I think there's another specific link for that.

I know I saw it somewhere on here before, I just don't have it in front of me right now.

I think that happens everyone from time to time.....just post the question again...I said goodnight and it got deleted...then other people posted the same thing and it seemed ok...makes no sense...yeah and I contacted them and got no reply either.

Mind you if you read some of the vile questions and answers from some users it would make you wonder about their guidelines

I got a violation notice too. I didnt agree so tried to contact them. It was well over a month ago. I still have no reply to any of my emails sent.

There's really no telling why you received the violation. I've received some questionable ones too. But I do think that many people would be lacking your wisdom and knowledge if you decided to leave over something so small, don't you think? I really do hope that you'll shrug it off and reconsider.

Violation Notices for "Answers" are sent out because the idiots at Yachoo Customer Care are too stupid to understand you . . .

P.S. It's highly probable that your question here will be deleted by the same morons . . .

P.P.S. You can "contact" them all you want, but they're too busy contemplating their navels to pay any attention to you.

From reading posts here there seems to be a lot of problems with Y/A not really taking on board a question/answer adn just deleating it. Weird
