    TOP FIVE CURRENT

    1. PEYTON MANNING

    2. TOM BRADY

    3. DONOVAN MCNABB

    4. CARSON PALMER

    5. BRETT FAVRE

    ALL -TIME!

1.JOE MONTANA His uncanny ability to bring a team back from apparent defeat is why in my eyes he was the best to play the game His ability to come back was so common that it simply became referred to as “Montana Magic.” A true student of the game, Montana won the NFL’s passing title in both 1987 and 1989. He topped the NFC in passing five times (1981, 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1989).

Thirty-nine times he passed for more than 300 yards in a game, including seven times in which he surpassed 400 yards. His six 300-yard passing performances in the post-season are an NFL record. He also owns the career playoff record for attempts, completions, touchdowns, and yards gained passing.

Eleven times the New Eagle, Pennsylvania native led his team to the playoffs. Along the way, he captured nine divisional championships and victories in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV. His outstanding play in Super Bowls XVI, XIX, and XXIV earned him Most Valuable Player honors in each game.

Named All-NFL three times and All-NFC on five occasions, Montana was voted to the Pro Bowl eight times, which was a league record for a quarterback at the time. In 1992, after missing 31 consecutive games due to an injury to his throwing arm, Montana made a dramatic comeback. In the second half of the regular season finale, a Monday Night Football offering vs. the Detroit Lions, Montana performed his magic of old, completing 15 of 21 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the 49ers defeated the Lions 24-6.

In 1994 Montana became just the fifth quarterback to pass for more than 40,000 yards in a career. At the time of his retirement, he ranked fourth in career passing yardage (40,551 yards), attempts (5,391), and passing touchdowns (273). His 3,409 completions ranked third all-time, and his career passer rating of 92.3 was second all-time.

2.PEYTON MANNING,Manning holds several NFL passing records, including: touchdown passes in a single season (49 in 2004), most consecutive seasons with over 4,000 yards passing from (1999 through 2004),and most seasons with 4,000 or more yards passing in a career .His career 94.4 passing rating in the NFL ranks first among active QB's with at least 1,500 passing attempts, and second all-time to Steve Young's 96.8. In nine NFL seasons, Manning has thrown for 275 touchdowns in his career (ranking him seventh all-time), and has thrown for a total of 37,586 yards in his career (ranking him thirteenth all-time).

    3. J0HNNY UNITAS Few, if any, sports stories are more dramatic or more complete than the story of Johnny Unitas. A ninth-round draft choice of the1955 Pittsburgh Steelers, Unitas was cut before he even threw one pass in a game. Still determined, he played semi-pro football for $6 a game.

After the season, the Baltimore Colts coach Weeb Ewbank learned of the "outstanding prospect" on the Pittsburgh sandlots. Ewbank signed Johnny for $17,000 on a make the team basis. Programmed strictly as a backup, Unitas got his chance in the fourth game when the Colts’ starter was injured.

Unitas’ first pass was intercepted for a touchdown but from that moment on, he never looked back. For the next 18 seasons, "Johnny U'' ran up a ledger of game winning exploits seldom matched in NFL history.

Without a doubt, it was his last-second heroics in the 1958 NFL title game, often called "the greatest game ever played," that turned Unitas into a household name. The New York Giants, with two minutes to play, were leading, 17-14, when the Colts started a last-gasp drive at their own 14. “Mr. Clutch” went coolly to work with seven straight passes that set up a game-tying field goal with seven seconds left. Unitas then engineered a textbook perfect 80-yard march to win the game in overtime. The game, played before a national television audience, gave Unitas his chance to demonstrate all of his marvelous attributes – confidence, courage, leadership, play calling genius, and passing skill.

Unitas’ career statistics include 40,239 yards and 290 touchdowns passing. His record of at least one touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games may stand forever. A genuine team player, Unitas was a first- or second-team All-NFL choice eight years, selected NFL Player of the Year three times, and named to10 Pro Bowls.

4.DAN MARINO. After his rookie season Marino's performance was unlike any seen in NFL history as he guided the Dolphins to a 14-2 record and a division crown. He became the first player ever to pass for 5,000 yards in a single season finishing with a remarkable 5,084 yards. His 48 touchdown passes obliterated the previous record, 36 touchdowns passes held by Y.A. Tittle and George Blanda. By season's end, he had set six league records and was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player. In the 1984 AFC Championship Game, Marino passed for 421 yards and threw four touchdowns in the Dolphins' 45-28 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning his first and only trip to the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XIX, Marino completed 29 of 50 passes for 318 yards, passed for one touchdown and threw two interceptions as the Dolphins fell to the San Francisco 49ers 38-16.

Marino's passing prowess continued at a record pace and by the end of the 1995 season had supplanted Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton as the career passing leader in attempts, completions, yards, and touchdowns. Marino's career totals are staggering as he completed 4,967 of 8,358 passes for 61,361 yards, and threw 420 touchdowns during his 242-game NFL career.

Thirteen times in his career Marino passed for 3,000 yards or more in a season which includes the six seasons he reached the 4,000-yard plateau. He passed for 300 yards in a game 63 times and threw for 400 or more yards in a game 13 times.Marino was named first- or second-team All-Pro eight times and earned All-AFC honors six times.

5.SAMMY BAUGH .Baugh started his pro career as a single wing tailback and didn't make the switch to the T-formation until 1944. He won a record-setting six NFL passing titles and earned first-team All-NFL honors seven times in his career. Sammy also led the NFL in punting four straight years from 1940 through 1943. Extremely versatile, he led the NFL in passing, pass interceptions, and punting in 1943.

One of his best single performances came on “Sammy Baugh Day” in 1947 when he passed for 355 yards and 6 touchdowns against the Chicago Cardinals, that season’s eventual champions. Baugh, although highly competitive, was still comparatively easy-going and never lost his sense of humor. When the Chicago Bears defeated the Redskins, 73-0, in the famous 1940 NFL title battle, a Redskins end dropped a touchdown pass in the end zone. Reporters asked Baugh if the outcome would have been different had the pass been caught. "Yeah," Baugh answered, "It would have made it 73-7."

    Best qb's now:

    Peyton- has very little competition.

    Brady- great leader

    McNabb- playmaker

    Brees- typical gifted quarterback

honorable mentions: Carson Palmer, Chad Pennington, Ben Rothlisberger.

    All Time-

Marino- really didn't have much talent around him, and still went to the Super Bowl and had the stats he did.

Manning- might be at the top in the end

Bradshaw- won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years

Steve Young- came out of no where to lead the niners

    honorable mentions:

Warren Moon, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady.

QB's with talent who can't live up to it: Eli Manning, Michael Vick.

Oh, and this is for people who keep hating on Aaron Brooks:

He's not that bad. He led the Saints to their first playoff victory in history, so tell me did Palmer do that for the Bengals? Did Brady do that for the Pats? No.

    Top five

-Manning- has the ring and that was the only knock against him

    -Brady- Three rings, nuff said

-Palmer- Not a bad start of a career and already one MAJOR injury behind him.(none of the other top 5 QBs have had to deal with a major injury)

-Brees- Although a couple less dump off passes would make hi move up the list a little

-Tie McNabb since he plays half a season as of late and Favre I like his guts and attitude but this should be his last season.

    OVERRATED

1-Vick- Learn to throw. IMPROVE your completion %. Seriously this guy has same completion percentage as he did when he started in the NFL. Come on now.

2- Leftwich- Come on, time to start being a winner

3-Plummer- wether he retires or not way overrated

manning is not only not god, he isnt the best qb ever, nor is he the best right now. He has had the same core players with him for his entire career, the fact he has had Harrison forever shows he should put up the numbers he does. the best qb in the league, hate to admit it, is easily Tom Brady, the guy has the worst WR's every year and he goes out and produces, and also 3 rings says alot to.

    1.) Brady

    2.) Manning

    3.) McNabb

    4.) Carson Palmer

    5.) Drew Brees

    All-Time

    1.) Montana

    2.) Brady

    3.) Johnny U

    4.) Steve Young
