Did you have the quad screen (maternal serum screen) in your pregnancy?

If you did, what were the results?

I think I am refusing it because it would cause me too much stress and it is so often "false positive" - what do you think?

I refused it in both my pregnancies because I knew that if it DID show problems, it wouldn't change anything...I think that if you would not consider terminating because of potential problems, why take it and stress yourself out?

I had the quad screen around 16 wks and it came back negative. I wanted to be prepared if something was in fact wrong. It wouldn't have changed the outcome of the pregnancy, but my husband and I would've wanted to have time to recover from the "shock" of such news. If it had come back positive they would've done more tests such as the amniocentisis. New studies have come out proving that the chance of miscarriage after an amnio. is actually signifigantly less than 1 in 200.. so it's a lot safer than what researchers originally thought.

I did have the maternal screening blood tests achieved, quite only for information. It grow to be achieved a pair of week and a a million/2 in the past and that i haven't heard from the medical expert yet. i'm particular i'll verify greater at my next appt, yet quite they stated if I hadn't heard in 2 weeks then the tests have been ok. the only reason that I did bypass with the aid of with the sorting out grow to be to be greater recommended. If it shows there is an probability of delivery illness, my husband and that i'll be waiting to get counseling from a genetic counselor. additionally, i'm conscious that those tests at the instant are not appropriate and that fake positives are very achieveable as nicely as fake negatives. For me, I merely think of that's greater effective to have the possibility to be recommended earlier our infant is born. I won't have an abortion based on the sorting out. If there's a genetic concern I merely opt to comprehend a thank you to terrific take care of my infant.

I just dealt with this decision yesterday, and decided not to. There is only a 60% chance that it will be correct, and if it comes back that there are genetic abnomalities, your Dr will then do an amniocentisis to further check this out. There is a 1 in 200 chance of miscarriage because of having the amnio, and that was something I didn't want to chance, either. It all comes down to this: if there is something wrong with your baby, will you not love it just as much? I still would.

Yes, I had the test. I too was worried about the results. If the results do come back positive, don't stress....there will be alot more tests to confirm. I just figured I would rather know if something was wrong with my baby before it was born so I could prepare if necessary.

    Good Luck!

I did and it was negative but if I had known more about it I probably would have because theres no way I would have an abortion anyway. Why would you kill a sick abbay you know? I am 6 weeks pregnant again and I dont think I will get it this time.
