I am an Army mom,is there a support group I can go to chat with other military parents?

I want to meet people who know how I am feeling.

Update:

We are so very proud of our son,he didn't have to join but he wanted to follow in our footsteps,my husband and I served in the Navy.We keep in touch with the frg ladies from his unit, but we live 85 miles (one way) from his base,so it's not always possible to visit.I wish to make friends with other women that are going through this be they moms, wives, gfs of soldiers.

Believe it or not, but myspace is a good way to connect with military moms/spouses, I am a military wife and my husband is overseas right now, and I get so much support talking to these women who I met through myspace, they understand and know what I am going through. My heart goes out to you and your son, stay strong!

In addition to checking the military.com forums and MySpace if you have a page, you can check for Yahoo Groups for military parents or even for groups from your child's base or area serving in. Also, you can try http://www.cinchouse.com/ I know a lot of the groups that say they are for spouses and fiances will happily accommodate a mom if you ask them to.

    Go to www.Military.com.

They cover all branches of the services.

You might check with the Community/Rec center on the base near you or the Army Communty Service Office (ACS)

Talk to some of the females at the PX or Commissary.

    Also call the Post Chapel.

I'm retired Army and stay informed.

Every unit is required to have a Family Support Group (FSG). This is a unit commander's program. Contact the rear detachment for your child's unit and get the contact info for the FSG Leader. This way, not only will you be talking to parents, spouses, and loved ones of those deployed, but they will be the families of those your child is serving with. In addition, you can assist in the welcome home planning, organize meetings for those behind, attend "Get Aquainted" functions and generally network not only with those going through what you are going through...but with those whose family is serving with yours. Like everything else in the military - you will find that you get out of this organization what you put into it. I sure hope that helps.

I searched the web and found this http://www.militarymoms.net/ It is not strictly Army but it looks like a nice site for military mothers. Hope it helps, tell your son or daughter that we all appreciate their service.

I don't know if there is an actual support group you can meet with, but this website should get you started down the right path. http://www.military.com/spouse/fs . Thank your child for me for serving.

You can look into Blue Star Mothers of America. You might even be able to find a chapter in your area.

Thank you for supporting your child and our country.
