Kitten with colds in their eyes?
There are 2 kittens my sister has, and they both have colds in their eyes. One little baby has his eyes completely shut, we clean them out, but as soon as he sleeps, they go right back to being like that. Even when we do clean them out, his eyes are like swelled shut, I mean he can see somewhat, but not the greatest. Is there anything we can do to help them!? =(
they have their eyes opened, and have for awhile. they walk around and play, all that stuff. they were born April 8th, and theres 3 of them. one has it in both eyes, the other one has it in just one eye, and the other little one doesnt have it at all.

Take the kittens to the vet, should like they have an infection that will need to be treated with anti-biotics asap. Take all of them.
The best solution to use to clean their eyes is salty water. It is a natural disinfectant and wont irritate sore eyes. It should be about the same strength as sea water - ie salty to the taste.

The kittens have eye infections. This can either be treated by yourself or by a vet. Locate a local feed store. (a store that sells livestock feed) most will carry a product called Terramycin. (if you are in California you will have to get it from a vet) Typically sells for $16 it is an optical antibiotic. (for the eyes) use a warm moistened cotton ball to clean the eye from nose outward. (use a different cotton ball for each eye. Once the eye opens gently hold it open and put some Terramycin in each eye. Do not allow the tip of the tube to touch the eye just gently squeeze the tube and allow a small amount of gell to drop onto the eye. Do this for 3-4 days and the problem should clear. If not then continue treatment for another 3 days.

Heat some warm water in the microwave for about 30 seconds.......then add some peroxide......like a 50/50 mix. clean the kitten's eyes using a wash cloth..... once the crust is removed put some petroleum jelly on those eyelids to help them from sealing shut. If you have antibiotic eye medicine for cats that would be ideal but if not use the *Vaseline* Eye meds are basically Vaseline and mineral oil with just a tad of some sort of antibiotic.
You need to make sure that those eyes stay open when they are awake because then all of the infection (pus) gets a chance to drain.
You may need to clean the eyes several times before they stop *sticking* when they sleep
Diligence and patience is paramount

First you must use a warm washcloth or cotton ball to clean out the eyes. Wipe from nose outward. This way you can wash off some of the goo. Each eye gets a different spot on the washcloth or a different cotton ball. Do this very gently. Then apply terramycin (available online without a prescription or at pet stores) to each eye. Apply just a line across the eye and massage the eye a little, very gently. Terramycing works very well for what I call "kitten icky eye". Sometimes this can lead to a real upper respiratory infection, but if you use the terramycin this shouldn't happen.
However, if this does not work or if they get worse, contact the vet.

They are over a month old now and their eyes should be wide opened by now....they may have upper respiratory infection (URI) which is like a cold kittens develop either from their mother or another animal that has it and they need medical attention immediately...they may have an infection or a disease...you should take them to a vet a.s.a.p so they can get the meds that they need and make sure they are up to date with vaccinations so they have a better chance of fighting off colds etc... i have 7 cats and they all caught (URI) from one of the older cats and they all needed to be treated with antibiotics and sometimes eye medicine with steroids in them......i hope i've helped and i hope you take them to get checked out soon
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

What a coincedence my kittens who were born in 8th April one of them has the exactly same problem. It has gained weight and seems really sick but I can't get it to thevet until Monday...If you can get them to the vet go fast because it is very risky the other kitten might have the same thing in a couple of days

Definitely need to see the vet and the kitties will probably need treatments in their eyes.
I had to treat a friends kitten because they didn't do it as often as needed. He still lost one eye and would have lost both if not for me so be sure and stay on top of it after you take them to the vet.

If they are older and should have their eyes open, then take them to your vet and get medication for the infections. It's probably conjunctivitis, but you want to rule out anything that can be more serious.
They may also provide you with an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling.
