they are called defensive players; which include safties, cornerbacks, linebackers, and down lineman. These players try to stop the offense from advancing the ball and scoring

That's not vague or anything, there's a lot of positions that tackle the QB. There's DE,LB,CB,FS,SS and sometimes WR if your Troy Brown.
