Thompson's plan for Iraq?
http://www.tommy2008.com/War_On_Terror.aspx
read up. so far it has made the most sense to me. What do you think?
I beg to differ, I haven't heard anyone else in the Republican party say lets let the Iraqis vote on whether or not we stay.
What is pathetic is people only voting on name recognition. that is why the good candidates always lose in the primaries. Look at the last two elections, both parties voted for idiots.

It sounds a lot like Biden's plan he has proposed for a couple years now. The only real difference is the Iraqi Parliament vote on whether the US forces should still there. One note with that specific idea: the United States can NOT (and should not) propose such a vote meaning that the Iraqi members would have to. MOST members would not want such a vote because most Iraqi people want us out of there (and the politicans want us there). The people will probably punish any member in the next election.
But I like that people are finally proposing realistic resolutions.
I could care less who gets the credit, I just want us out of this mess... Thompson is more realistic than the other GOP candidates, thats for sure.

It doesn't really differ from anyone else in the GOP camp.
What I'd like to see is a "engagement" into the war on a national level. Let's define the problems we're having - for example, road side bombs. Have a contest with huge awards for the company/individual that can develop technology to better sniff out the bombs.
In reality, however, we will not win this war unless we become more brutal and force the insurgants into submission. Difficult considering they think nothing of killing unarmed civilians.
I would look to Tommy Thompson for a social agenda. He's done wonders here in Wisconsin on Welfare reform. He's probably positioning himself for either a VP or cabinet position. I know he always wanted the Transportation Secretary position.

Maybe so, but he has no chance at the nomination. During the poll after the debate on fox, Thompson got less than 1/4 pct of the vote. That's pretty pathetic.

It is pretty vaguue....rebuild the military? How? You think people are going to want to enlist if we are fighting a never ending war. The oil agreement is something that has been talked about for the past year, as well as the local electionsin the provinces. The country is too f*cked up to make progress on either.

Good point re: name recognition. My choice for candidate is Joe Biden.

Doesn't really say anything. You can read the exact sentiments on any candidate website, regardless of party.
