need to make laptop screen appear larger?

I have a laptop that has a very small screen. I know there must be a way to make windows and such appear smaller therefor giving the appearance of a larger screen. I have tried to adjust the screen resolution under the control panel but it won't allow me to make changes. Any ideas? I'd really like more room on my screen. I have to scroll just to see whole webpages.

So you are saying that the image is not taking up the whole screen?

If that is the case, then changing the resolution normally fixes it.

Since you are unable to do so, you will need to install the video drivers for the computer.

Seeing as how the video drivers are not installed, I think it is safe to assume that there are other drivers that are not installed either.

So go to the manufacturer of the laptop's website. From there go to the support and downloads section. You can then look up the model number of the laptop you have and they will list compatible drivers for the computer. You will want the video or graphics driver for sure.

I would just download and install them all, as you probably have other things that need driver updates.

You can't change screen resolution on a laptop. It's fixed to what the panel can do... unless you want to emulate a lower resolution(which tends to get all fuzzy).

You can't do higher resolution unless your laptop will do virtual screening... where your (say) 800x600 laptop screen acts as a window on a bigger desktop... my laptop (Compaq M300) will do that - I can have a 2048x1536 or thereabouts virtual screen with a 1024x768 window I can move about on it. But you still have to scroll.

Check you manual, you may be able to do what you want by buying a higher resolution external screen. or a new laptop of course.
