John Andretti officially enters Indy 500. Any opinions?
When John Andretti's Nascar career went down the tubes, he should have spent more time in the IRL. If his reflexes aren't shot, he could still have a decent career. Good to see him back in an Indycar.

Did he have any wins in Indy car?
I think he is racing simply because of his last name.
As far as three family members in a race,I think the Whittingtons
had three brothers in the 80 or 82 race.Cant remember too well.

It would've been nice to see him stay in IndyCars, but like so many Americans, he may not have had the green ($) to get a ride. Nowadays in Indy cars and Champ Cars, the driver brings money to the team more often than not - only the very top teams can afford to select any driver they want regardless of his coming with or without a sponsor. For American drivers, NASCAR is where the sponsor money is, sad to say for us open wheel fans. As for family in the Indy 500, there were FOUR Andrettis in it in 1991-92 - Jeff, John, Michael and Mario (the only reason it wasn't for three years straight was Michael's 1993 commitment to Formula One).

Compared to his family, John Andretti isnt as talented, no doubt about it.
But it isnt like he is some no talent hack that bought his way into a ride, and nothing else. He did win a couple of NASCAR races in the past (Daytona, and Martinsville, the 2nd coming from a lap down no less), and when he was running CART (Champ Car), he was running it when even F1 drivers made apparences, so the wins were much harder to come by.
If he has a good day, a Top 10 could be seen.

He seems to be doing well, I'm worried about Stephan Gregoire, I'm afraid that he will not run the 500 and a replacement will be needed. I believe that the Andretti's, and the Whittington's are the only group of three or more drivers to run the 500, all without success besides Mario in 1969.

The name alone conjurs upexciting Indy races. And the Andretti name is to Indy as Petty is to NASCAR.

i would not think of so, Their sponsor, Ford would not like it in the event that they have been to circulate force a Honda...Chevy and Toyota won't enable their drivers do it...avert and Penske is the only one that could desire to usng .Sam Hornish Jr... a minimum of Petty Interprises isn't ther with any of their Ford drivers. till they're permitting Fords returned at Indy this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days..would not that be great!

I was surprised to see that today (via LiveStreaming on indycar.com) and immediately wondered if it was a record.
Have there ever been three members of the same family on the Indianapolis 500 grid? ( I'll have to dig into the stats and see if I can't find the answer...)

Good to see him back.
But what I like the most is that it looks like they will fill the field this year and also have drivers with rides on the outside looking in.
This is good for the sport.
