What do you think of the Australian Military?

They have been in every conflict the US has been in. If you ask the average person who is not military, they don't seem to know much about the Australians. BUT if you ask a military person, they have a completely different opinion. Why is it such a big secret?

Actually the Aussies haven't been in every conflict, just most of em.

They also bring good beer .......lol

When I ETS'ed out of the USAF while stationed in Guam,

The Aussie Air Force contingent that was TDY at Anderson AFB, had the beer for my going away party flown in from Australia.

Also, civilians think the rest of the world hates America.

That's what the Left tells them repeatably.

How are they to know that we get along just fine.

My mom tells the story of some British Soldiers training at Fort Campbell, KY in the summer when it was very hot and humid.

Actually asking her for some " iced tea " , as you know, the Brits take their tea seriously and the idea of " iced tea " was barbaric to them, when they first got there.......lol

Back to your question though, because its not reported in the media.

Just like the US and France were supposed to be at odds over Iraq.

But barely mentioned in the media, was French Soldiers rescuing Americans in the Ivory Coast when civil war broke out there.

Or that France sent more French Soldiers to Bosnia and Kosavo, so that the US could reduce our troop levels there, to send more soldiers to Iraq.

It just doesn't play into the image that the media wants to portray.

Because they have a different "attitude" in both training and combat, best way to describe Australias modern Army and Specialist Forces to make any sense would be as a cross between the traditional Brittish model with the added US reality taken onboard, however as with their way of life they have a "fair-go" mentality. Meaning no brazen stupidity resulting in friendly fire, but more free thinking than the Britts.

Perhaps underrated by people who know nothing about the Army but Never by anyone who does. In WW11 Australia fought under English Rule and in WW1 were cannan fodder for Brittish Officers. But held on and gained ground where no one else could. In New Gunea many reports of Australia Advancing while US Marines where pinned down or failed to keep pace and where outflanked. Australias Legend comes from the AIF or Light Horse who were tough, tall and incredible fit country boys looking to join a fight and serve God Queen and Country, and never let their mates down. Today very well trained, fit, learn from others with a humanitarian role to play as well as we protect our Region of South East Asia and serve alongside Coaltion forces abroad. Very secretive being the Australian SAS always first in last to leave, includes Afghanistan. Probably kept secretive due to Government policy beacause we have the worlds largest Muslim population in Indonesia on out doorstep, although they couldn't invade Australia there terrorist cells certainly could and would be a gateway for terror attacks here, aka Bali etc...

There's not a big secret at all.. I just don't think it gets into the media and nobody really knows unless you are in the military. The American media is very lop sided in reporting... they only report the bad stuff and not the good. So the majority of the time the good stuff gets overlooked. Thank you for you and your country's dedication and committement in the wars you've fought with us Americans!

The Australian military is one of the best in the world, for example in Vietnam their SAS killed over 500 Vietnamese without one casualty but they can't compare themselves to the British military.

this is not proper, united states of america of america will intervene a million/2 way by using and end it by using bombing the two the crap out of the two international locations and taking all the oil, then we are going to set up a puppet government controlled by using the banks purely like right here. Then they are going to all be unfastened like us.

Silent but deadly. I wish we could keep such a low profile.

Among the greatest soldiers in the world ! Unlike many other countries they don't shout about their prowess.

I know they rock in the "games" we participated in when I was in the Nav... and that the exchange-sailors were *shocked* and dismayed that there was no beer on board our ship!
