Why is homosexuality put in the same category as Murder, rape, adultery and other sins?

Sin is sin and all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. We are all sinners and all need the atonement. It is the reason Christ came ot the world none are good and all have sinned we can not please God with our sinful flesh but through the atonement are by faith changed to his righteousness. I say by faith because we have not literally died and been changed but are yet in the sinful world in our flesh and he who endures to the end is truly saved but we by faith claim the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

There is forgiveness no matter what it is and it is no different from fornication or adultery. The problem is when people refuse to repent! They have Free will and Make definitive choices for their lives! When you look at the Old Testament, it was used in Baal worship as a sacrament! It is also compared to withcraft. Exodus 22: 16-18,God called it an abomination. 2nd Kings 23:7. The End result of the Church Age is found in Daniel Chapters 11-12, Romans 1 and Revelation 22.

Sin is sin, we all have weaknesses and they are not always the same as the next person. The things that I struggle with might not even phase the next person. The only real difference you might be able to make a case for is that some sins have more far reaching consequences than others, but as far as one being worse than the other in God's sight I don't really believe you could support that from the scriptures.

.Technically you are right ,But here's the problem; The rules of the Bible only apply to those who believe in the Bible, they do not apply to non-believers.

God didn't care that peoples that weren't his chosen people have homosexuality as an integral part of their advanced civilization .

That is an easy statement to prove.

The Greek and Roman cultures that existed at the same time and occupied the same geographical area as the culture of the Bible openly practiced homosexuality . God did nothing to stop it . He could have used whatever the God equivalent of a photon torpedo is and easily removed the Greek and Roman cultures from the face of the Earth. He did not and the only plausible reason is that since they weren't his people they could not break his rules.

Christians are well within their rights to demand that fellow believers follow the rules of the Bible But they are out of line when they make demands on non- believers to follow it also.

What is wrong with homosexuality is not for being homosexual but the immoral acts that one does like a woman who sell herself for pleasure and money. Many homosexuals in this modern world have been enjoying the graces from God for their great contributions to society in many fields. None of them could have lived prosperously if you think being homosexual is an abomination from God. What made some of them miserable as I have observed was the way they conducted themselves recklessly immoral and it seems the karma had almost been immediate to many and yet those who live a much decent lives are successful in their endeavours. The Bible does not say do not be a homosexual in any parts of the commandments. It only said during the time that Israel was at war and building up a nation not to commit sexual act even to those who are man and woman who are to go or already in the battlefield. Soddom and Gomorrah is not about homosexuality alone but more of abuse of strength and power by men, criminalities. corruptions, prostitutions and all kinds of sins unacceptable to God. Do not single out homosexuals there just because it was emphasized by the Bible. Look at it as the height of social perversions happening in the city.

I was watching datline on NBC and they had a show about little kids and I mean that literally 2,5,7,11,12 year olds were telling there parents that they were not supposed to be a boy or a girl and the parents saw how upset and depressed there kids were and they let there children live there life as the opposite sex. I truley believe that being gay is not a choice that you make in most cases. I think that you cant help who you are attracted to just the same as you cant help who you love and you cant help how you feel. If you are gay or lesbian than more power to you every one knows what the bible says but the bible also says that god loves all his children and will forgive you for all your sins. I honestly dont believe that you will go to hell because you love a man and you are one. I would never try to tell someone who they can and cannot love or marry I feel bad for the gay community its just as bad as racism I wish that people would just accept the fact that not every one will look, feel, dress and love the same. Accept it and move on worry about your self some people kill me how they preach the bible and claim they are christian and the only thing they do is judge people. I went to my boyfriends moms church he's black and when I walked inthere I could feel the eyes on me I honestly thought that church would be the one place I could go without being judged or talked about but I was obviously wrong. Christions will preach the word but wont practice what they preach. Let gays be let interatial relations be let mixed children be. Stop judging and worry about you and your life. God will handle the rest

I would say that if you follow the teachings of the bible then some sins are greater than others - why have the ten commandments if they are not more important than other sins?

Of course, there is the very sad point that in one part of the old testement that people say forbids homosexuality, it also mentions a man who offers up his young daughter for his guests to sleep with. You could argue that since this is now a sin (ie punishable by law as child abuse) then other things in the bible that were sins could now be considered ok.

I seriously doubt anyone these days thinks they will go to hell for wearing cotton and linen garments on the same day, yet the bible says that is wrong too :) Why is it ok to do this and not for men to sleep with men they love and cherish, and women to sleep with women that they love and cherish?

Being Gay is not a sin. It is the homosexual act is a sin.

2357 ...[homosexual acts] are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstance can they be approved.

Degree of sin:

1 John 5:16

If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray.

1 John 5:17

All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.

I am a christian too, & yes in the bible it states that being gay is a sin. I agree why you think it should be in the contents of being a sin, but I think they were just frustrated that it was in the murder, adultry, group since it's not about either of those and some people do not consider being "gay" is a sin.

I believe some people may be defended by that and that people have their own rights of opinions.

Even though I'm a christian, I do not look down upon anyone, because being a chrisitian is loving everyone as your neighbor and friend. I do not judge anybody because that's God's right, not mine. I am friends with those that do not believe in christ and friends with gays. But all I can do is pray for them. The rest is up to them and God.

I believe that homosexuality is not in the same category as murder, rape, etc. It's one's personal sin not commited to hurt anyone. I'm lesbian and what I do in my home behind my closed bedroom door does not hurt anyone. Now if I go out and commit murder I've hurt more than one person...I've taken a life and I've brought sorrow onto those who loved that person. I believe there's a big difference.

I know what the Bible says about homosexuality but it is my burden to bear. I am the one who will have to answer for my sins come judgement day not anyone else. It is not for anyone else to judge me and determine if I'm a sinner that is up to God. Maybe the people who say they are Christian should think about some of the other rules in the Bible as well. Thou shalt not judge lest ye be judged. Live by it!

Sin is Sin! Just as a "Black" & a "White" & a "Hispanic" are all Humans!!! We attach "Categories" to what God calls Sin, so that "Our Sins" are "Special", not like "Ur Sins"!!! It's been made into a "Game" by those "Self-righteous" individuals who keep UR List & NOT Their List!!! Any way U look at it, God cannot live with Sin no matter which ones We choose as Ours!!! John
