depends what your role as a warior are ...are u there to tank and hold agro or are u there to dps cause if your tanking no right minded priest would agree to be your healer if u havent got a shield equiped

A good warrior always has a decent shield on hand. An obvious sign of someone who has no idea how to play. Is a warrior in a group that says "umm, all I have is this big axe."
For leveling on your own, There's no good reason really to have a shield. Put all your points in the fury tree and keep on trucking to 70. But along the way, if you want to brave the dungeons of Azeroth, and accept the responsibility of keeping 4 members of your party healthy, each menacing blow of the enemy has to crash into your shield.. or you'll drop like a sack of potatoes.

it really depends on: talents, what you're doing, and if you group.
when soloing the best thing to do is go for 2H, cuz there is no reason for taking and dealing less damage. a shield will reduce damage dealt to you by about 10% but not ahaving a wep in the other hand will reduce damage dealt by about 25%, so fights will take about 15% longer (i might not have done my math right)
but, if you are grouping and have other people to kill things, then DEFINATELY go shield. everyone hates a warrior who can't hold aggro and isn't in defensive stance.
so for soloing go 2 1H and grouping go 1H and shield, then best thing to do would be to keep a slow 1H a fast 1H and a shield in ur bags, always, and also it's a good idea to have a 2h wep, they benefit more from high strength
hope i helped, (urait on blackwater raiders, lvl 59 troll rogue)

It depends on what your goals as a warrior are. If you are there to be a protection tank and hold aggro from the rest of your party, then sword-and-shield is best. If you are going more for full on damage and are less concerned with holding aggro then dual wield is a good choice. Also, in PVP dual wield is the way to go.

Two hand weapons are normally stronger, so the ability to duel wield two handers is a plus.

If you're tanking, a 1hander and Sheild is best, for damage migation. If you're fury/DPS, dualwielding is fine. It's really up to you.

If you are dpsing, go dual wield.
However, if you are tanking, use a one hand and a shield.
