Republicans...?
Can you put forward an arguement that would convince me that you are more worthy of support than the liberals? WITHOUT JUST BITCHING ABOUT THE LIBERALS PLEASE (if thats all you have to say don't bother answering). I have never heard a rational arguement for being a republican, I have only heard :1. how much republicans hate liberals; 2. which countries republicans would like to go to war with next.
Thanks for all your answers.
Zombiehive: I am from the UK and doing a degree in law. I am fully conversant with UK politics and was just interested to hear a reasonable arguement from a republican, however you have proved the point nicely...
Just for the record - I have not stated whether I am "republican" or "liberal" and anyway as it so happens I am neither, being that I am not from the US so all you who have ranted your hate for liberals and jumped to conclusions due to the way I worded my question have really just proved that republicans are generally (with a few exceptions) full of anger and hate.
Contrary whtat you might like to believe ZOMBIEHIVE, the syllabus on courses outside of the US is not centred on the US. There are other countries in the world, other than the US. If you think that it is better to conduct private internet research on things, why are you a participant in Yahoo Answers? !

First. I would suggest that you not look at the Bush administration as being representative of all republicans. I don't imagine there are many who would admit publicly, but the values of the Republican party and what Bush has done are complete opposites.
Typically, the Republican party supports smaller government, fiscal responisiblity, lower taxes, and being tougher on crime. Obvioulsy there are exceptions to this rule.
Even Democrats have members of their own party that don't support the tenets of thier party.
In my opinion, Ronald Reagan exemplified the tenets of our party perfectly; he wanted the federal government to be smaller, was strong supporter of states rights, and was tough on terrorism (Lybia got the message after several airstrikes in retaliation to hijacking US airliners.)
I hope that this helps you.

It becomes obvious to anyone reading your questions that you are an extremely prejudicial person. Obama is indefensible. All of his agenda is utopian. It is something that will never be attained on this earth. Noble? Yes. Practical? No. You can't solve every problem in the world by blowing smoke and throwing money at it. If that was something that could be accomplished the Democrats should have succeeded a long time ago. Affirmative action by per capita has done relatively little to change anyone's plight. If the Democratic leaders are so all knowing why haven't people with access to affirmative action programs, public housing and welfare improved since these programs took effect? They keep feeding you the same hope and change and they still need to because they've changed so little in such along time. Every time the have the upper hand they spend us into more national debt. Not deficit (only applies to annual budget) debt (applies to what the U S Government owe everybody). They have no concern for what you owe.

A true republican is not a bad thing if the party can brake away from the conservative side and return to being true republican's we would have little taxes,it would be against the rules to be militarily engaged in a foreign country or have a standing army.We would all be the defenders of America. We would enjoy good family values without the taint of oversealous religiuos conservatives. All are food would be produced in America by Americans and would be fresh.Yes vote for a real republican.Check out the Jefferson Republicans they would never have embraced the federalist society.

Being a Republican to me means...smaller government, lower taxes, less interference in our lives, and an active foreign policy (war only to defend).
Bush is not my kind of Republican. Reagan is.
The current administration spent like Liberals.
Not many AMERICANS are for war, and if you listen to Liberals, Republicans are also FOR pollution and FOR CEO golden parachutes and theft, and it's a bunch of rhetoric. Issues are complicated, and we can see the many aspects of most situations. Oil company profits are way up because of market forces, capitalization, and the loss of refineries. Liberals just say...it's Bush's fault and we are dumb because we believe him (always the cynical take). They ignore the union funds invested in oil companies which leads to higher profits and give a handsome return for their pension plans.
Everything is so simple to a liberal, and that is not how life is.

The principals of the GOP are really good ones. But there are crays in all corners of the world. I am so piss off about what happened to me that i am ready to vote republican. The Democrat senators here in Wisconsin are taxing us too much. Yes we do have great schools. But the way the money is spent is ridiculous. Are roads are falling apart and the workers are just standing around. I have watched 4 men all standing around while one man pounds one stake in the ground. We need to mix the business like principals in the spending part of are local money. There is so much more it would take a book to finish.

Liberals go after the emotional vote, whereas rebulicans go after the real world vote. Rublicans try to do the best for the country. Liberals want to please a certain market to gain their vote rather than trying to do something for the benfiots of all. Some examples, income redistribution, benefits only some. Why should the rich be punished for working hard? To go along with that, they want education for all and for everyone to be successful. However, as soon as you are successful they punish you and take more of your money away with taxes. Have you ever heard the phrase you can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time. The liberals try to fool all the people all the time and it is finally starting to catch up with them.
Another example of trying to please certain "groups". Obama wants to give extra benefits to Automotive retirees to "encourage" the industry to create more fuel efficient cars. First of all, those have nothing to do with each other. The automotive industry is already trying to do that. Obama's hidden agenda is getting the union worker vote at the cost of millions for all tax payers. Make sense? NO!
Vote CONSERVATIVE Republican, have more money, have more rights. Its that simple.

You're confusing a political party with an ideology. There are huge differences between Liberals and Conservatives.
Conservatives believe in limited government. They believe individuals, living in freedom, going about their everyday lives, is what makes America great. It's not some government program. Conservatives do not measure the success of Americans based on the number of people who depend on government handouts, they measure the success of Americans who no longer need government handouts. They believe in a strong national defense. Conservatives believe the money you earn is yours, not Nancy Pelosi's. They believe in personal freedom. I could go on.
The most important thing I can say about political definitions is that they are in constant flux. Liberals today, do not resemble Liberals from 30 years ago, and that is also true with Conservatism. Listen to Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, read National Review if you want to know more about Conservatism. Listen to Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, read The New Republic if you want to know more about Liberalism. Read Reason magazine if you're interested in Libertarian thought. And do this with a "real" open mind, and you'll learn much about substantive political ideas in modern America.

A simple question is asked
and look at your responses
you did exactly what the person asking the question begged you not to do
It's as if you can't control yourselves
I'm a liberal. There is no valid reason any freedom loving, compassionate person would be a Republican....but I wanted to add this post because the conservative answers on this question gave me the best laugh....Thank you conservatives

I wish people would quit being so emotional about their political parties. You should research a candidate by the name of Mike Huckabee. He won't win because he's too rational, but he is the kind of President we need, Republican or not.
For the record, Liberals are not without blame--their rhetoric is full of hate as well.

I enjoy being a republican because they do not support most social organiations. If stem cell research is so vitial and has many benefits wouldn't a drug company like brystol myers or merck want to invest into it? Instead its the taxpayers. I realize democrates want to take in more taxes and distribute them. It sounds very seductive but the past has shown us it is better for prvate organizations to run this out of people giving. The government will use half the money it took in to make a bored and hire people.
