Has anyone had thier membranes stripped?

Did it do anything to bring on labor? I am 40 weeks 2 days and just had one done. Did it just bring on cramps and spotting or did it actually bring on labor? How long after? Thanks!

I did twice, and neither time did I go into labor, with one I had to be induced 5 days later, and the second time I went into labor on my own, but it was a week later.

Other women will tell you they went into labor within a few hours of being stripped, but, do they really know they wouldn't have gone into labor on their own anyway even if they hadn't been stripped?

Essentially, it works if your body is ready to go into labor anyway, it won't if your body isn't.

I had mine done at my 38 week appointment and at my 39 week appointment on Monday. I have been in early labor since Monday night (regular and painful contractions, but no cervical changes).

The basis of "Stripping the membranes" is if the baby is ready to come, sometimes, that will push things along.

Don't expect it to work, because sometimes it doesn't, but other times, if the conditions are right, it will.

it will help labor start sooner if you are already pretty close to going into labor naturally...if you do not go into labor within 3 days, your body was just not ready yet...let nature take it's course...i had mine stripped with all three, as i concider it non invasive...the first two it helpped put me into labor within two days...my third, on the other hand ii had mine stripped at 41 weeks and continued to carry the baby until 43 weeks...the stripping of the membranes did nothing for me...on average, a first time mother will wait until two weeks past due to have her baby...it is not unnormal...i know it is hard, but wait it out...or try nipple stimulation and alot of walking

I had mine stripped with my 2d baby and that i went into exertions the very next day. My physician instructed me if I spooted or cramped upon getting the membranes stripped it became common. If it truly is what you're experiencing then its ok. If what's popping out is snotty like tinged with blood, then that could desire to be your mucos plug. solid success

I had my membranes stripped at 38 weeks and it did nothing for me - I went in to be induced at 40 weeks and 5 days. Hope you have a healthy baby soon, and congratulations!

I didn't have it done, but my friend did, and she was in labor within the next 24 hours...but everyone is different...so GOOD LUCK, hopefully the baby comes soon.

I did, had it done on the thursday, I lost my mucas plug over the Friday and he was born on the Saturday. Not the most comfortable thing in the world to have done though. Good luck.
