Would you consider dating sites that only charge men for access to their services a form of prostitution?

I'm wondering about sites like Meetic and Match.com and others that allow men and women to put up profiles for likely candidates to happen into their lives when they haven't walked in physically.

My objection is that as a man I am obliged to pay a monthly fee (discounts applicable) to be able to reply to any messages that come to me after the first month or so of being able to use their chat and e-mail services to my hearts content, whereas the women that post their profiles are allowed free access without limitations in time.

Surely this is a form of prostitution? Surely this is sexism in the digital age at the very least. Dangling women from web pages as if they were ladies sitting in windows in Amsterdam, for Pete's sake!

Obviously us guys are dumb, or we wouldn't fork over, but the girls are quietly sitting back and helping these kinds of scams; they are the lures on someone's fishing line.

Do you think it is fair? Sleazy? Similar to free drinks for women in nightclubs?

Well man, if you're looking for a relationship, you'd better learn that right away: What's hers is hers and what's yours is also half hers. Which can be taken to mean that the service you pay for on those sites goes to cover membership fees for the women that browse for free.

Why do you think that marriage is on the decline nationally?

Its wrong to charge for a dating service and really bad when they just charge one sex - its discrimination! But its not the girls fault so I wouldnt call it prostitution - even if the sites are acting as pimps lol!

I use http://www.tarzanmeetjane.com/ its free to use and free from that sort of discrimination. I know there are other free sites out there but Im not a member maybe others will answer you and give you more sites that are free to try.

I totally agree with you. I think it is sleazy.

I once asked a manager of a bar "why don't you do a "mens night" in addition to "ladies night"" and he said, "nobody does that"

I think it should be free for ANYONE to sign up on a dating site. You shouldn't have to pay to send messages to someone.

    100% agree with you.

It's the same on phone chat lines too but I guess it goes back to the old fashioned ideas of another era when men paid for all the dates.
