Soy buena gente. Hago lo posible por llevarme bien con los que me rodean y hacerle la vida mejor a los que puedo ayudar. Me caen fatal las injusticias y la gente a la que el bienestar ajeno le importa un bledo o menos. I'm a good sort of person. I try to get along with those around me and I try to improve the life of those I can help. I can't stand injustice and people who care nothing or less, about the wellbeing of others.
Why is it easier to get along in life by being evil, than it is to get along being nice to everyone?
Doesn't it just rub you the wrong way, when you go through life trying not to step on anybody and generally get along and "play nicely", to see how people who push others out of their way fast-track it through life?
Why is it easier to choose the evil way over the good way? Whose logit is that?
Why do we allow ourselves to live in a micro-wave dinner world when we grew up in a mom-cooked dinner world and loved it so?
9 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoHow do you disarm an attacker without getting shot in the process?
Supposing you are facing an attacker with a handgun and you are certainly going to get shot, and you might as well try something rather than be gunned down without putting up a fight, just what can you do?
I saw a tutorial video on YouTube that showed the defender grabbing the gun with two hands and twisting the butt of the gun quickly upwards in a way that is supposed to painfully break the attacker's index finger in the guard (with all the pain and surprise that would give allowing further self defensive movements) but it really looked as all that would achieve would be to fire the gun in the defender's gut.
What can one do? What is a good and effective disabling sequence so that one can get away safely?
8 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWith medical advances today, is there no way to fix a horse's broken leg quickly and avoid its being put down?
I just read a shocking news article that set me thinking whether the industry of horse racing shouldn't fund new ways to heal horses so that they aren't put down as they have been up till now when they fall and break a leg. Currently the healing process is long and painful and "economically unsound" which is why the industry usually prefers to "cut its losses" and avoid suffering to the animal, but surely there must be advances in human medicine that can be applied to veterinary medicine and at least save an animal's life, let alone perhaps even get it racing again. We don't shoot broken athletes, do we?
15 AnswersHorses1 decade agoWhen did it become acceptable to use words like "stupider" instead of "more stupid"?
My english teacher went to great lengths to explain certain aspects of grammar and I had to learn how to say and write "more stupid" instead of the grammatical trend of "stupider" and it is bugging me. Was my time in school wasted with so much correction? Why are people getting away with mauling the english language so carelessly? Do we get away with saying whatever we like because there is no continuity in our education anymore? No educational accountability? What goes on in English class stays in English class and the lessons in correct language use are not followed through by other educators throughout the school and at home?
9 AnswersSociology1 decade agoHow big is a tonne of CO2 pollution?
I'm trying to picture how big a cloud of pollution 1 tonne of CO2 really makes. I mean, one tonne of carbon all squashed together makes for a cube a little over 1 metre each side, more or less, but if you took the average CO2 spread as it might, are we talking about a cloud that would cover a football pitch, a large University campus, a state or a country?
How about if you laid one tonne of CO2 flat in a 1 atom thick puddle? What would that cover?
I guess you'd have to factor in if that tonne of CO2 is stuck somewhere where you get smog conditions or not, but
I was just reading this article on CNN, http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/07/18/ec... and it got me thinking about how to convince the world that we just have to make it interesting to the greedy side of mankind to scuttle as much pollution as possible and not just shop it around. How can it possibly make sense to invent a quota for a country that can't produce the mess, just to buy it?
5 AnswersConservation1 decade agoCould we move the days in the week a few days over so that weekend weather isn't always lousy?
We have daylight savings to help the world economies save a few cents and try and help us waste less of natures limited resources, but could the world be made better place if we moved the weekend from where it is and foxed the weather patterns that so often give us shiny beautiful week days promising exciting weekends only to slam the sky closed with clouds?
I propose a worldwide petition to scoot the weekend over.
This would lead to another question though. Should we move the weekend forward a few days in the week, or backward? Any economists willing to work that one out? How much the world economy would gain with an extra weekend, lose without one and the benefits of having a double header weekend.
3 AnswersOther - Social Science1 decade agoWhat would happen to the ability of solar panels to generate electricity after an intense freak hailstorm?
I'm all for alternative energies like wind power and solar power, but what will happen now that we have twisted nature to unexpected extremes?
One October day this year we woke up to the effects of a freak hail storm that pelted over 2000 cars breaking windows, snapping off rear-view mirrors and denting any metalwork it landed on, damaged plastic awnings, roof tiles and anything that couldn't withstand the impact. It even left golf ball sized marks on the sidewalks, cleaner than the rest of the area.
How would a society largely dependent on solar panels cope with such a disaster? One town barely coped with replacing all the car windows damaged inside a week.
This question is more a heads up to designers than a slur on the technology. I am a firm believer that every roof that sports a solar panel and/or a small wind turbine is is a firm step in the right direction. Aren't all big things made up of a bunch of smaller parts? The Great Wall of China is made up of stone blocks.
5 AnswersGreen Living1 decade agoCan I salvage my broken Quarz crystal or does it have to be buried?
After nearly nine years of sharing greater and lesser moments with my crystal hung on its string around my neck, it got snagged into my turtleneck jumper and went flying when I took the jumper off. It fell on the floor instead of landing on the bed or on the carpet.
My question is, although it might have all happened for a purpose unknown to me, do I simply sand the sharp edges and keep the two parts, cleanse them and re-attune them or do I have to bury them in a good place?
The person that gave it to me told me that crystals have to be buried and returned to nature if they break, but I can't find out whether I have to de-tune them from myself if I do that or whether I really do have to part with them. Seeing as I was told never to let anyone else handle the crystal, I'm a bit unclear on the eventualities of someone digging the buried crystal up at some point in the future. I haven't found much info on the net and figure this might be a good place for "crystal mainainance" tips.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there a better utility or program for copying files than Windows Explorer?
I'm sick of leaving a folder or folders copying from one hard disk drive to another and coming back to find that the whole process has stopped because Windows has choked on one file. Is there a way to copy around problem files that then lists the ones that didn't make it across to be dealt with separately. Is there a way/program that simply gets on with copying and doesn't stop to ask about duplicates or system files?
I've been putting up with this major fault for years from Windows 95 to XP. Has this been solved in Vista? Is there a bolt-on program that does this better? Am I doing something fundamentally wrong? Thank you!
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoWould you consider dating sites that only charge men for access to their services a form of prostitution?
I'm wondering about sites like Meetic and Match.com and others that allow men and women to put up profiles for likely candidates to happen into their lives when they haven't walked in physically.
My objection is that as a man I am obliged to pay a monthly fee (discounts applicable) to be able to reply to any messages that come to me after the first month or so of being able to use their chat and e-mail services to my hearts content, whereas the women that post their profiles are allowed free access without limitations in time.
Surely this is a form of prostitution? Surely this is sexism in the digital age at the very least. Dangling women from web pages as if they were ladies sitting in windows in Amsterdam, for Pete's sake!
Obviously us guys are dumb, or we wouldn't fork over, but the girls are quietly sitting back and helping these kinds of scams; they are the lures on someone's fishing line.
Do you think it is fair? Sleazy? Similar to free drinks for women in nightclubs?
6 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoWould you be willing to use Yahoo Chat without all the frills if it meant you could chat bot-free?
I miss the old days of Yahoo Chat, the days in which you couldn't webcam or pick up the microphone, because back then PEOPLE chatted on Yahoo, not bots. It seems no one human uses Yahoo Chat any more. And I miss it tons.
Ok. I wouldn't mind having the ability to talk through the chat system, but what can we do to erradicate the bots from all the chat rooms? It makes using them so downright unpleasant. I just spent half an hour wandering around and it was like looking at the neon lights in Las Vegas without the thrill. For a moment I thought I'd met a real person but in the end I think they were also a bot. Its as if I had spent half an hour watching adverts on TV. Not a good way to make advertisers spend money on Yahoo.
4 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoDoes anyone else miss the old Yahoo chat? The one where people from the whole world met without bots?
I haven't had a real conversation with a human on Yahoo Chat for months. I have to wade through streams of bots offering their inane phrases and links to websites offering everything except people who just want to chat.
I have fond memories of enjoying hours filled with people from all over the world sharing their memories and hopes. Where has it all gone? Snif.
Where do PEOPLE go to chat instead of Yahoo Chat?
3 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoHow many Republics have the French had?
I just read something that mentioned that the Romanians have based their legal system partly on that of the French Fifth Republic. I didn't know they'd run through so many government changes! How many times has France gone from Monarchy to Republic and back again?
6 AnswersHistory1 decade agoBest answer... 9 months later! What is the longest time for you?
An answer I gave just got voted best answer on a question asked nine months ago! Is this close to the longest out there?
I thought questions cooked off after a shorter period, that the system didn't leave questions hanging around unvoted.
14 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoDoes it hurt you to react to the hype about global warming and do something positive?
If it doesn't hurt to try and do something positive, why not do it? Why do some people look at the problem as being too huge for individuals to tackle? If you take a whole bunch of individuals and get them to pull in the same direction, they move huge problems out of the way! Numbers make power. Its time for the Ecological Revolution and we can all take part as passively or as agressively as we want. We just can't stand around any longer and pretend to be helpless in front of it all. We are the clients of industry and should be telling the men with the money what we want, not the other way around.
Write on the back of a used paper, separate your garbage, walk to the mall if its only a few blocks away. Take the bus to get back if you bought shopping. Let the numbers do the work for you.
12 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoWould it bug you if the Joneses kept up with you?
We are told that the haves don't want the havenots to have more because then the haves wouldn't feel as rich. Do you think so?
Would you work to reach a comfortable standard of living where every need is met or do you need more? Do you need more because YOU want it or because the guy next to you has more?
If you had all you wanted, would you really mind if everybody had it too or do you think society needs poorer people so that those who have money or lots of money can feel better with themselves?
Because you must admit, there is enough around to share so that we can have everybodies needs amply covered AND have really rich people too.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWould you use a wind up charger for your mobile phone?
I imagine you've seen those emergency chargers that are available for phones that give you five minutes-worth of charge. Would you be willing to sit there winding like a fool to fill the battery completely if it meant saving tons of pollution every year? Or how about a charger attatched to your stepper or static bycicle? Excercise would be even more useful!
Or how about a generator connected to your office chair. If an automatic watch gets wound by the movement of a wrist, how much energy would be generated by the whole country when it turns to get up and get coffee?
8 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoSo, if global warming is going to affect weather patterns, should we be planting solar panels in Europe?
If the weather is going to change so drastically, should we be putting up the alternative sources here in Europe or should we put them in countries that won't change much. If gas is being piped under the Mediterranean from Northern Africa, why not put up panels there and lay power cables under the sea too? Spain is meant to become more desertlike so we could put them up here. If they generate electricity in Germany, surely they will work nicely here and in Italy.
What about wind generators? By how much will wind patterns vary?
6 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoWhy is it so much easier to show violent values to our children than to sneak in good values?
Somebody elses question got me thinking.
Why does violence still sell nowadays? Back when it was unusual to see a violent crime portrayed on TV or described in a song, there was a hard edged novelty to it. We labelled the songs "Explicit Lyrics" or whatever fit and tut-tutted. Now that criminal actions have permeated every form of entertainment, when will we cross back across the line? How many more school killings have to happen before we can put a few more Dumbo elephants into our kids lives and a few less Dum-dum bullets?

If the topping has been spread evenly and the oven has been pre-heated correctly, how come the center of a pizza is very much hotter than the crusty end? And why do I always forget that fact and burn my mouth even though I can hold the crusty end in my hand?
