Was anyone else appauled by the fact American Idol made fun of a mentally retarded person on national TV?

I don't watch that show; I find the concept ridiculous. However, I am 'appalled' by your spelling. You know, there is a built-in spell-checker, right?

I ain't watch the show all year except for a few mins when they did the Feed the hungry segment.

I'm not shocked at how anybody is treated anymore, Lets face it people have no compassion for anyone anymore. Compassion isn't in our vocabulary anymore. I have seen things and heard so much nonsense in the last 10 years. I can't believe how some people get away with so much. This is the way our kids are growing up. Sometimes I feel like we are going back to the Cave men days. Ops hope those cave men ain't reading this.

First of all my understanding is the guy is not retarded. The heavy guy is autistic and the big eyed guy has a disease that just causes his appearance to look like that. All the same cruel but as the kid said he wouldn't have gotten all this positive media attention if it weren't for the insults.

They weren't mentally retarded(bad wording). They were autistic, and I'm sure they would rather be included in our society. - Not to say that Simon wasn't wrong, but those kids have a good sense of humor.
