The welfare reform bill?

What do you think of John Hutton's welfare reform bill and it's affect on disabled and the sick. many sick people call him Herr Hutton, one calls him the Prince of Darkness! Incidentally, similar reforms have been proposed to save money in the United States - supposedly the wealthiest nation on Earth.

I wrote a blog about it some time ago - http://mike10613-idea3.blogspot.com/

Update:

Loule, I can'r comment on your son'd mobility needs - but he should get the care components of DLA. You should also be able to claim a carers allowance for looking after him. The sceretary of State with his new bill will make that even more difficult to claim - and the plans in the US are just ridiculous! We have robots and computers replacing people now - we should have more of that in the future without having to cut welfare. Note also - that many disabled people look healthy. You can't judge people just by looking at them. The guy playing golf - becuas ehis doctor advised exercise after his heart attack - should not be hounded by either the press, TV or the Department of Work and pensions.

Much of the politians, never have problems with giving themselves raises but when it comes to the poor, they never have a problem with agreeing on cutting funding in one area or another. All these CUTS proposed "20 early" to supposedly SAVE social security is pure delusional garbage and MATHEMATICALLY calculates as such. Just like in the 1980's here in America, the government cut funding to help many who were mentally ill and in institutions because of the foresight to the government going broke. Where did many of these people whine up? On the streets to DIE. In 1996, Clinton also proposed cutting many off social security and DID. Where did they whine up? On the streets to DIE. Problem with politians is that YOU, ME and EVERYONE else in our individual countries HAVE the POWER to put these kind of POLITIANS out of office and SHOULD. You tell me their mentality when it isn't wrong to spend BILLIONS on defending peoples who contribute NOTHING to our tax systems, yet our very own governments won't support nor help their own peoples throwing them out on the streets to starve and die, many of them too disabled to help themselves, SIMPLY because they use DELUSIONS of future false anticipations that the system will go broke if they don't initiate CUTS. So where ARE all these high prices coming from and high taxes going to if not the "government....."

What, are you joking louie? How could down syndrome not be considered a disability? Anyway, no I haven't heard of that but I heard of this one politican who did a food stamp challenge and confirmed what many of us knew that people who live off of food stamps often can't afford decent food.

I think part of the problem with the disability thing is that anything (it didn't used to be like this) could be considered a disability. It used to be if you got a bad back due to work, age, etc than you'd get worker's comp until you could get better now, everyone just goes on disability or welfare. It's like we have a socialist underground here.

to be honest i hadnt heard about this until reading your blog, but my first answer is good-its about time!

too many people blag the system these days, call them what you will, shirkers, workshy-its been proven time and again that although there are genuine claimaints for these benfeits there are plenty of others who will claim for bad back, depression, all the illnesses that can be faked.

people who genuinely suffer with these things are entitled and should receive the benefits but why should we pay our taxes for dole dossers to sit around on their backsides all day, and in some cases actually still work!

i had my son at a young age and was living in a hostel and was adviced by my health visitor to put on the symptoms of depression to gain access to better housing so i know it goes on.

also i have a disabled son, who is 4, but cannot walk properly or for long distances. we have applied for motorbility for him as he has lots of hospital appointments and we live in a rural area. i have been told that i am not likely to receive this benefit as he has downs syndrome and its not classed as a disability 'as such'!!! and 'there is only so much money in the pot'.

Having banned fox & stag hunting, they had to find a substitute - hounding the disabled; whilst I'm all for weeding out the frauds, do we really deserve this?
