Repost of question that Yahoo Answers deleted?

Several of you have noticed some of my answers and written to me. I served 6 years of Navy, including an 18 month tour as a river rat in Vietnam, a 2 year tour aboard a destroyer, and a little over 2 years at a NAVFAC in Newfoundland. Then, I served in the Air Force for 6 years active duty. Then, I served in the Air National Guard for 22 years, including working full time for the Air Guard for 21 years. I notice that Republicans and conservatives are thanking me for my service to my country, but Democrats and liberals are calling me a terrorist and a baby killer, just as so many did when I first got out of the hospital after being combat wounded in Nam. I am drawing the conclusion that Republicans and conservatives actually care about the military and go out of their way to thank us, while Democrats and liberals see us as their personal gunslingers, good enough to kill for them, but certainly not good enough to thank, or invite to dinner because we are a lower life form than they.

Update:

Yahoo answers deleted this question, so obviously they are as antimilitary as Pelosi, Reid and Hillary. Gee, is Yahoo Answers run by liberal democrats? If so, then everything they say is a lie

Update 2:

I actually had a democrat tell me that the main reason we lost in Vietnam was because we military were high on drugs. Yes, he actually said that. Does that sound like he was promilitary?

Update 3:

Billy, you honor me. Welcome home to you as well.

Update 4:

Celtic, I'm no hero. I just did my job.

Update 5:

Latte Queen, be careful. I was an STGSN and STG3 when I was a river rat. Sonar was a rate they used for the Mekong Delta Yacht Club. My prayers are with you and your husband, and with everyone who serves now, since I am retired.

I am not old enough to have an independent memories of Vietnam, however I would like to take the time to personally thank you sir for serving our fine country. It deeply saddens me that democrats and/or liberals treat you with such disdain. You are a true hero and my kids will grow up knowing all of the sacrifices you and your kind have made for us. It is because of you that we can peacefully put our heads on our pillows at night, pray to the God of our choice, read the books we desire, listen to the music that stirs our emotions! It is because of you sir that my rights and freedoms still exist! And it deeply saddens me, on a level so deep it is hard to put into words, that I am surrounded by fellow citizens that take those rights and freedoms for granted. God bless you! Have a WONDERFUL Memorial Day Weekend! You have my appreciation and respect...ALWAYS!

Being a liberal Democrat myself, I feel the need to ask you not to generalize... however, given your experiences, I'm sure it's hard not to when majority of the liberals you have encountered have been negative toward you.

My father was in Vietnam- he served in the US Airforce and was in the Tet Offensive. He spent 20 years serving his country and retired 18 years ago. My brother is in his 17th year of service in the US Airforce, and has been in both the Gulf War, and Iraqi Freedom. Currently, my husband is deployed, training for 2 months before being sent to Iraq for a year. He's a US Army Reservist.

Given my extensive background of military life, I think a lot of people are surprised to find that I'm a Democrat. But in my opinion, it makes me a better Democrat because I understand a lot more about the military then most.

I can still remember my father telling me a story about how, when he was coming back from Vietnam, he was spit on by some protesters. I was absolutely sickened by that.

Saddly, I believed our country was doing better this time around in supporting our troops. In all the days my husband wore his uniform out, at least 2-3 people would stop and say, "Thank you for your service." I suppose I never questioned whether they would be Republican or Democrat, but I just felt very proud that our country had learned at least one lesson from our time in Nam... It makes me very sad that you've seen a different side of this country.

My stance on the war does not effect my pride for my husband and the job he's doing over there. Just because I don't support this administration and their choices doesn't mean I don't support him or the other veterains who have sacraficed as well.

From the bottom of my heart, I just want to thank you for your service as well. Just like my father, my brother, and my husband- without men (and women) like you all, this country would not have the freedoms we so easily take for granted. And I'm sorry for the Democrats who cruicify you for just doing what it takes to make our country work. It takes a special kind of person to do what you have done, and that deserves the utmost of respect.

    Take care.

First let me say Thank You. My father served 32 years Army and did 4 tours in Viet Nam as well as 3 in Korea. Growing up in that environment I should have known better but I married a Marine. Just kidding. He returned in Janaury from his 4th deployment to Iraq and will be going back for another visit in August.

The sacrifices the men and women have made for this country have not gone unnoticed by all. Yes, there are many (loud) people who "think" they know what is best (group hugs and chanting comes to mind) for the rest of us, but I'm always reminded that those who have always lived with freedom are usually some of the most spoiled and selfish people around. I would love to take some of them to other parts of the world and let them get a taste of just how bad it can be.

I don't think it's a matter of republican vs. democrat. I think of it more of a "informed" vs. "moron" issue. Okay, I guess that is republican vs. democrat.

My husband was wounded the 3rd time he was in Iraq and when he returned home he was greeted in Dallas by a group of Viet Nam vets who had come out to the airport to meet the plane. It really meant a lot to the men on that plane that those who were treated so poorly by this nation were going out of their way to make sure that the generation of military now didn't get treated as they did.

    I again say Thank You

Hey, I'm a democrat, and I thank every one of our fighting men and women for their service. I served, my father who is 86 years old was on the beach at Normandy on D-Day. One of the main reasons I am a democrat today is because of an administration that treats our soldiers as cannon fodder for a war that's purpose has never been logically explained.

I have this very strong, emotional belief that before we suit up our young men and women in uniforms in Iraq (which are nothing but big targets for insurgents) and proceed with the certain knowledge that some of them will sacrifice their lives in this endeavor, that we ought to have a clear understanding of the reason we need to be there and why the interests of the United States require such a sacrifice, and our reasons, by God, better be right, not just some whimsy we can later blame on bad intelligence.

To require anything less is an insult and degradation to those who swear to protect and defend this country from its enemies.

The point is, no one can add you & see your acct. But that said, your questions you posted & answers will still show up on searches like on google. Be sure to delete all of your contacts & fans, do not allow fans to add you as a contact, do not make your QA visible & remove any profile pic (make it the generic Yahoo one) and finally make your Profile private. That's all you can do before you hit delete.

Once again, the arrogance of the left wing shows them for what they really are. Lefties, for the most part, want world peace, but don't understand that lowering the strength of your military as an 'example', is just ridiculous. Surely the people that prevent your children from being murdered in their beds, from the military right down to the cops, are the ones most worthy of thanks? As for the Dems being a higher life form to the military, the drugs comment puts that one at about a third grade history level.

Thank you for your service. My uncle also served in Nam, but unfortunately he did not come back alive. I never knew him, but I am proud to be his neice. I am not comfortable answering your question, though. The last time I spoke my political views about democrats my account was deleted LOL. I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate you. God bless.

I did not see the "question" in your repost, but I did read your bio with interest, and I agree with the points you made. I believe that those that volunteer to join the Military are doing a service for Freedom that can never be repaid, and Thank God for all those that have chosen to serve this country. I like to take the opportunity whenever possible to thank members of any and all branches of the military for their service, and try to, in a small way, let them know how much they are appreciated. Your bio shows a lifetime of service to our country, sir, and I thank you for everything you have done for all of us, even those that are not smart enough to understand how important you, and people like yourself, are to America, and to Freedom. Thank you for your service, and for your sacrifice!

    Godspeed.

You need not concern yourself with what others think. You are a MAN who fought for his country, and the protected will never understand what it's truly like to be free. They are herded around in life sheepishly, accepting the crap they are handed and they ask for more . You have the wisdom to understand B.S. when it's handed to you ,and the courage to not accept it . You are welcome at my table anytime. And the beer is always cold.
