The truth is Lance Berkman is a day in and day out good player. You can count on him to bat .300 and smack 40 HR's in a year. Which brings us to Barry Bonds, sure he has good obp because of his walks but, he does not play everyday, he struggles with hitting now that he is gaining age, sure one day he probably will break the record for homeruns, but it will take the whole course of a season to hit 20-25.

Bonds will have his hot streaks and might have a good season. But odds are that he will break down at some point, and maybe is tiring already. Berkman will end up with his 35+ home runs and have decent avg and RBI #'s. Bonds is a risk, I take the surer #'s with Berkman.

It's not even close. Bonds is too old, has spent most of the last three seasons injured, and has no protection in the lineup. Berkman, while probably a year or two past his peak, is still a top-notch numbers producer. I'd take Lance is a heartbeat.
