This is what Memorial Day means to me, what does it mean to you?
MEMORIAL DAY IS A TIME FOR US TO HONOR ALL THE FALLEN SOLDIERS, MEN & WOMEN ALIKE. TO ME A FALLEN SOLDIER IS NOT ONLY THE ONES THAT DIED WHILE FIGHTING BUT THOSE THAT WERE INJURED WHILE FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY.
INJURED SOLDIERS STILL HAVE TO GO HOME TO START LIVING A NEW LIFE WITH THEIR FAMILIES, DEAL WITH ALL THE FLASHBACKS FROM FIGHTING IN THE WAR. DO YOU EVER WONDER IF THE INJURED SOLDIERS WOULD HAVE WISHED THEY HAD PASSED ON IN THE WAR?
MY FATHER, LT. JOHNNY ED WILLIAMS, A PROUD MARINE. FOUGHT IN THE VIETNAM WAR. MY FATHER, DIDN'T TALK ALOT ABOUT WHAT HE SAW THERE BUT THERE WERE TIMES WHEN A FIRECRACKER WOULD GO OFF & HE WOULD HIT THE FLOOR. SCREAMING FOR AMMONITION SO HE COULD PROTECT HIS COMRADES. MY STEP-MOM TOLD ME THAT ONE NIGHT, SHE HEARD A VERY LIGHT FOOTSTEP, SHE FELT FOR MY DAD, BUT HE WASN'T IN BED, HE WAS AT THE END OF THE BED WITH A 12GUAGE SHOT GUN READY TO BLOW HIS WIFES HEAD OFF BECAUSE HE THOUGHT SHE WAS ENEMY.
MY FATHER'S STORY IS JUST ONE OF MANY OF THE SOLDIERS THAT ARE STILL LIVING AFTER BATTLING IN A WAR FOR OUR COUNTRY SO WE CAN HAVE A BETTER LIFE.
MEMORIAL DAY IS ALSO THE DAY TO HONOR THE SOLDIERS WHO ARE BATTTLING NOW FOR OUR COUNTRY. THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN SEPARATED FROM THEIR FAMILIES FOR MONTHS MAYBE YEARS.
THEY MAKE THIS SACRIFICE NOT ONLY FOR OUR COUNTRY BUT FOR OUR A BETTER LIFE FOR ALL AMERICANS.
PLEASE HONOR OUR SOLDIERS ON MEMORIAL DAY.

I am sorry that you had to go through that. I am grateful for what he did for me and I am more sorry than I can say that what he had to do and witness tortured him so. My uncle died liberating France in WWII. He didn't have to be tortured by his experiences. But what a price to pay? I hope your father has been able to get past it somehow. Thank him for me, please.

It means that our forefathers, brothers, sisters, friends and loved ones have shed blood and given their lives so that people like "Joe" on here have the freedom of speech to express themselves whether we agree with him or not. These freedoms and rights are the basic foundation that this country was built on. A lot of people tend to take them for granted, but this doesn't change the fact that many have, and will continue, to die to defend the Constitution that guarantees these basic rights to every citizen of these United States. Today is about those that "Gave It All" so that those who didn't can continue to enjoy the Freedom's that created this "Great Experiment in Democracy" that we call America. Have a safe holiday and remember those who made it possible.....

Memorial Day is to honour both the fallen and the serving servicemen of the military. It is to honor their bravery and sacrifice to whichever country they're from, and they do their job even if their mission is opposed or questionable.
Happy Holiday to all military personnel and families!
We all want you home!!!!
