Who is/are Your American Hero(es)?

My mom is retired Army so she tops my list! Esp when she served when few thought women worthy.

My father and father-in-law both served: Army and Air Force respectively.

My baby sister just joined the Army and is at Basic right now.

A myriad of my family: Aunts, Uncles, Cousins all serve . . .

Then there's my Grandfather, who has always been my hero! He saw more than one war. He served in both the Navy and Army. And as a Pastor, he continued to serve the human race.

He talked a lot of the Red Bikini's: http://www.170thahc.org/

My youngest son, who is 24, is home right now for 2 weeks leave from Iraq---HE is my hero!

He is a great kid and always WAS--he bought a brand new car on his own 2 years ago--it is now paid off. His $70,000 student loans are down to $1,500---all from his military pay.

He was in boot camp on 9/11---he joined the Army Reserves in peace time and never expected to get called up. But he sacrificed his own college graduation ceremony to go when his country called. He is a good man, and I am very proud of him!! I will cry really hard when he goes back in 2 weeks!

If I have a Hero at all, it would have to be my late Uncle: Cpl. H. Wayne Soloman Btry F, 2ed Bn 131st Field ARTY Bn. The entire Bn was captured by the Japanese on Java in early 1942 and subsequently dropped off the face of the earth. When he was liberated in 1945 uncle Wayne weighed about 100 lbs and was sick for the rest of his life. In spite of his poor health he worked as a mechanic, tool pusher, and cattleman. His neighabors elected him County Commissioner twice. Never once did I hear him utter a bitter word against the japanese. Never once did he act like anybody owed him any thing for his war service.

My favorite American hero is my Uncle John. The reason is that he married the Marines for 25 years and retired as a Staf Sargent. I always thought that he was and will always be my American Hero. I also date a man who is also my hero. He met me at the lowest point in my life. My life has totally changed. I work as a nanny for a great family. I can support myself. I can pay my own rent. $800.00 a month. and all my other bills.

    Source(s): This is my hero.

My hero is Gen. Dwight David Eisenhower, who later became a US president as well. He rightfully foresaw and gave his warning to the American people about the growing Military-Industrial Complex. He warned on one of his speeches that the day will come when politicians and big corporations will use the military for the pursuit of their political agendas. That is indeed what's happening nowadays.

Who's my American hero? My mother. She never served but she is my hero because she was a single mother and did a fantastic job with the hand she was dealt and the one she placed herself in.

    Hi Moneta,

    How's it going?

As an Englishman, I wouldn't really like to comment on individual Heroes.

Perhaps we should remember your "Unknown Soldier" buried in Arlington Cemetry: no-one knows WHAT he did.

But everyone knows that he did it for his COUNTRY.

He did it for all the Folks back Home.

    He did it for AMERICA..

And,above all , he did it for all our FREEDOMS!

    A bit more:

I appreciate the way that you chose your loved ones as your Heroes.

The Big Names are nothing without the Ordinary Guy, who becomes a Very Special Guy when seen through the eyes of those who love him, cry for him, and pray for him.
