Which would you choose to visit: Cedar Point or Kennywood?

We would like to travel from the West coast to one of the great American amusement parks. We don't know much about these but hear they are well-worth a visit. How many days should we plan on, and other attractions are in the area of each?

GO to Both! A great place to stay would be cleveland or somwhere in between. Drive an hour or so to Cedar point, then go back to your hotel after a fun day. THen drive another hour or so (if memory serves me) could be two hours to KennyWood. I have been to both parks many times and love both of them equally for different reasons.

I would pick Cedar Point over Kennywood, although both are great parks but in completely different ways.

You should plan two days at Cedar Point, or least a day and a half. One day isn't enough to cover everything, and there are several coasters you'll want to ride several times. Cedar Point has the most coasters of any park in the country and is known for its great coasters such as Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raptor, Mantis, Gemini, and most recently Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick. Its setting on Lake Eric is just awesome and unlike any park you've ever been to. Sundays are said to be the least crowded. Avoid Saturdays like the plague!

Kennywood is smaller than Cedar Point and much more tradtional, but certainly not outdated. Here you'll find classic coasters like the Jack Rabbit, Racer, and Thunderbolt, all of which were built in the 1920's, but also hi-tech thrillers such as Phantom's Revenge, Exterminator, and Pittfall. Kennywood really has a park-like setting, and its nice just to sit on a bench along its central pond and take it all in.

At night, Lost Kennywood, is spectacular! It looks like the old Luna Park of the golden era of amusement parks. One day at Kennywood is plenty. Try to get to both parks if you can.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and went to kennywood often, but my family also made frequent trips to Cedar Point. I'm a big fan of Cedar Point. They have great rides, but beware of the long lines. I remember goin all day and only being able to ride 5 or 6 rides. The Magnum is my favorie. Have fun!

I'd pick Cedar Point in a heart beat. It's know by coaster enthusiasts around the world. 17 coasters now I believe. Cedar Point makes Kennywood look like a toy.

I live in Ohio, so I would choose Cedar Point or Kings Island.

Have you thought about Kings Island? It's near Cincinnati. I went there when I was younger and my family is planning a trip there this summer!

Two-day passes at both locations are better values for the money. At Kings Island, I believe you can take a boat trip on the Ohio River.
