What are the pros and cons of doing freelance work verses starting a business?

I've thought about starting a business for event planning, but it seems like so much work and money! I here a lot about freelance and want to know what exactly freelance would do!

Basically you'd be working short contracts for other people, and it would be like having your own business...but since they are bringing the business to you they take more of the money. Owning your own business will be more profitable for you, but if you are just starting out and can get some freelance jobs go that route. This will help you get better at what you do, make contacts, and have no real liability. I can't stress how important it is to make the contacts and follow up with them continuously because they will eventually be your clientele when you open your own business. You can also keep good relationships with the companies you work for because they will probably already use you.

Freelancing can be great as long as you get the right contacts, there are many on the web but some are scammy so be careful. Businesses can be expensive for ALL the costs, seen and unseen
