What does ' lucked out " mean?

    In the UK this has the exact opposite meaning to that in the USA.

    In other words Lucked Out means you were unlucky ( a much more obvious meaning to my mind)

    I guess it comes from the phrase '**** outta luck' which can of course be used ironcally and thus carry both meanings.

    ****! I lucked out on that promotion. I did't get it!

    2. LUCKED OUT

    When you manage to avoid a dangerous or unwanted situation.

    I skipped school today. Good thing, too cuz them Columbine whiteboys iced all them foos this afternoon.

    "lucked out" is when you forgot to study for a test which you thought was tomorrow,

    only to find out it won't be until Friday.

    I think it means got lucky at something! EXAMPLES: I lucked out to get front row parking! I lucked out to get great seats at the concert!

    Depends where you live I think.

    In the USA, yes it means you got lucky.... but in Britain it means the opposite...it means your luck ran out.

    It means that something good has happend by luck. It is kind of confusing if you think about it, but it is something positive.

    Tell your brother: I f he ran to store get a item on sale and when he got there they had only one left to sale.he was lucky. he sure did luckout today.
