there's quite a few actually. i'm a diehard wings fan. i grew up in michigan. I’ve liked them since the mid 80s, (before i was a teenager), and will continue, unless we get forsberg. then i'll pick a new team. and although it's cuz he was on Colorado, the reasons extend far deeper than that.
i'll take this opportunity to say something to the wings fans, even though it may fall on some of the deaf ears.
one reason why you see so much hate towards wings fans, is cuz some of you are (whether you want to admit it or not) ... bandwagon fans. (bandwagon fans = someone who has become a fan because the team is good. Unfortunately, because the wings have been “good” for so long, it’s hard to not be a bandwagon fan. So really, in Detroit, it’s a matter of how LONG you’ve been a fan. It’s a blessing and a curse. It’s great that we have a great team almost every year, but some just like the wings, cuz it’s “cool” to like them. They don’t remember the fruitless years.) i don't have anything against this myself. We gotta replenish the fan base somehow. but some of you don't know what you're talking about. you guess when you post. And other posters from other teams will eat you alive. Not to mention that you discredit yourself. People won’t listen to you much anymore. Furthermore, people will start generalizing about wings fans being dumb and bandwagon. These are the dangers. So when you post, please know what you’re talking about and use some discretion. It’s great to be a fan of hockey. Just put your opinions into perspective.
I know some will respond and chastise me, but if you can answer the following question w/o using the internet (google or wikipedia), then maybe I’ll listen to you.
When was the last year that the wings missed the playoffs? Who was …
-their coach?
-Their top pts scorer (not goals, but goals AND assists)
-Their “typical starting lineup”, including goalie (i'll be liberal w/ what i accept)

The Sharks have been driving a warm powerplay for the finished 2nd a million/2 of the season; they have have been given merely over 50 even potential targets through fact the ASG. And removing Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau (rumored harm) from an already slumping group with a popularity of choking while it counts certainly hurts their opportunities at fulfillment. Sharks are 0-12 on the powerplay this sequence, do no longer see that taking place to the Wings PP. i think of the ducks are very underrated this season. they have have been given a blueline studded with Pronger, Neidermayer, Beauchemin, Whitney, and Wishneiski; it is unquestionably reminiscent of the pink Wings' protection corps. upload a warm goaltender into the combination, and that they seem to be a valid probability to any group interior the playoffs. yet i'm no longer waiting to examine Hiller, to a 06-07 Gigurre. Moen and Pahlsson have been beasts interior the ducks' playoff run in '07. the two are long previous now. McDonald and Kunitz are long previous now besides, and there is not any doubt in my strategies the Wings first line can preserve the likes of Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan. i think of it is glaring that a seven interest sequence would be my best activity i'd somewhat see Anaheim than San Jose.

I am and have been as long as i can remember, i don't remember too much from before 95 since i was only like 8 years old then.....I really only encounter "haters" on here and in the media, i don't see too many of them here in Michigan, except for those pesky ave's fans, but they sort of went back into hibernation in the past couple of years.
Go Wings!!!
Next season!
*EDIT* Well "You", i would answer your little trivia question, but since i was only 4 at the time i probably wouldn't know unless i had researched it at one point in time....which i haven't.
And a lot of the fans i know where just born Redwing fans, thats what we do in Michigan, we cheer for Detroits teams, even the Lions, unless your from the UP then its the Packers usually.

Red Wings all the way. No doubt about it, Great Leadership, Teamwork, and Individual Skill.
Don't take the Red Wings haters too seriously on these boards. The majority of people that hate a team ... Hate them Because they are Simply the Best. They are sick and tired of their teams, Losing to the Red Wings. It's Jealous hatred. In my opinion, I love that so Many People hate the Red Wings. Makes us that much Better.
! GO RED WINGS GO !
