How many of you are baptised as Peter said in Acts 2:38 repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus .?
I know that Jesus said in Matthew to be baptised in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost but since Jesus is God then when Peter said in Acts 2:38 to be baptised in Jesus name we are being baptised in the name singular meaning one as in one God.And the gift of the Holy Ghost we are promised when we do that is Eternal life.
Ephesian3:14&15 states
Ephesians 3:15 states that the whole family in heaven and earth is named for our Lord Jesus Christ.and then in Colossians 3:17and what so ever you do in word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus-So wouldn't that cover baptism? as well as everything else uyou do?
And I didn't get this from some orginization but from the Bible and the Spirit. And when the Spirit takes up His abode in us He brings Fire like the tounges of fire that sat upon each of them on the day of Pentecost so when you have Jesus in you you have the fullness of the God head bodily. There are 2 baptisms the one in water and the one of the Spirit and the one in water is very important it is a symbol of His death and resurection. We are buried and then resurected with Him.
I
You got it Somethingfishy yeah for you and amen
Right on Carlysue.Paul only baptised a few because it was said that he had baptised in his own name and he had not.

yes.
no wait, no.
Jesus is not God.
Check out John 17:11 “Also, I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are. 12 When I was with them I used to watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me; and I have kept them, and not one of them is destroyed except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and I am speaking these things in the world in order that they may have my joy in themselves to the full. 14 I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them, because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.
15 “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. 16 They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. 17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth. 18 Just as you sent me forth into the world, I also sent them forth into the world. 19 And I am sanctifying myself in their behalf, that they also may be sanctified by means of truth.
20 “I make request, not concerning these only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word; 21 in order that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth. 22 Also, I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one. 23 I in union with them and you in union with me, in order that they may be perfected into one, that the world may have the knowledge that you sent me forth and that you loved them just as you loved me. 24 Father, as to what you have given me, I wish that, where I am, they also may be with me, in order to behold my glory that you have given me, because you loved me before the founding of the world. 25 Righteous Father, the world has, indeed, not come to know you; but I have come to know you, and these have come to know that you sent me forth. 26 And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”
As you can see, Jesus called he and his father one just as the disciples and he were one. In this context, it can only be concluded, that this order of being one, means one in purpose.
Otherwise, all who are baptized, in effect become part of a godhead, which would mean that god is not even a trinity, but a pantheon.

i have been! if it doesn't matter who's name you are baptised in then you could say i now baptise you in the name of mickey mouse. if it doesn't matter if you are baptised or not then why does the bible say lest you are born again of the water and spirit you cannot enter into the kingdom of God. matthew does say to baptise in the name of the father son and holyghost jesus is that name he IS the father son and holy ghost.

Do you really think it matters?
Seriously....
Does it matter how much water there was in the baptistry?
Uh, that's a trick question, since there were no baptistries in the times of Jesus and His disciples...
So, since Jesus did not specifically authorize the use of a baptistry, and the apostles didn't use one either, if you were baptized in a baptistry, you did it wrong, and you don't get the prize, right??
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. I was so stirred up and excited on the inside, I really wasn't paying alot of attention to what the pastor said. For all I know, he could have said "I baptize you in the name of Ronald McDonald"...and it wouldn't have registered. For me, it was all about what was going on between me and God...
EDIT:
For the Holy Spirit and fire baptism folks, I think you ought to read Jesus' words again. EVERY Christian has been baptised with the HS, according to the Bible. "Holy Spirit baptism" is what was going on inside of me when the pastor dunked me, no matter what words he said.
Anything less is not the "real deal"....

I was baptized under the authority of Jesus in the name of the Father,The Son, and The Holy Spirit.Just as Jesus said. You're right ,He is God ,but so is the Father and the Holy Spirit.I'd rather do it Jesus' way than pick one verse out of Acts and have some oneness pentecostal screw me up.I CANNOT go wrong following Jesus' command.

The religious group that like to talk about Acts 2:38 all day takes it out of contents.
I'm a fundamental Baptist. If a person has to be baptize to be saved, would you please expand how the thief on the cross made it to heaven without it?
What you need to do is learn what 2 Timothy 2:15 is trying to teach you:
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
Yes, I've been baptizes but only as an act of obedience's. Not because baptism is necessary for salvation.

I am, thank you very much. If you are not baptized in the name of Jesus, you have not taken on his name, their is one Lord, one faith and one baptism. Who is the father, the son, the holy ghost? One God that's what. We were created in his image and i do not have three heads.Their is only one.
Thanks Flossie mae, let's keep giving hell and bad hair day.

Not I. My mother tried to make me get baptized when I was 12. The minute my toes touched the water I thought that the whole thing was such a crock I turned and walked out of the sanctuary, got dressed and went and sat in the car until my mother came out of the church.
I have no plans on getting baptized either.

If you have been baptized with the spirit and with fire in addition to the water baptism, don't worry about it.
If you have not been baptized with the spirit and with fire, keep thinking.
