Has anyone ever heard of nerve damage due to smoking?

My husband has had a very itchy rash, mainly on his legs since November. One doctor told him it was scabies and this is what he was treated for. but he continued to be itchy and was scratching alot.He finally seen a skin specialist today and was told the sores and itching were due to his smoking weed and cigarettes and was told to quit. (hooray) I've never heard of this before and the doctor didn't give a name for this condition so I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before or know someone else who has. I know your arteries can become blocked from smoking but as I said I have never heard of nerve damage before. Any answers would be much appreciated. I tried googling it but didn't get much info.

I am a diabetic with severe nerve damage,I had a toe amputated a year ago and its still not healed! My neurology surgeon told me my smoking is promoting more nerve damage and prevents healing.Your hubby needs to quit before nerve damage gets worse,,its a painful thing to have also dangerous as you lose feeling and if he gets cut etc. he wont feel it which can cause infections..stop smoking A.S.A.P

Both smoking Baccie and Mary Jane calms the nerves so done in excess it could have an detrimental effect on them.

    But on the legs only?

Does he wear shorts a lot? has he been in long grass lately? Might be an allergy.

Buy some Piriton 5mg ( chlorophenamine) from the Pharmacist.

Dose him with those and if it is an allergic reaction they should help.

I have hayfever and take about 60mg a day.

When I was working my hands all swollen up and we found out I was allergic to polishing soap. I had to push it up to 100mg daily to get rid of the inflammation and itching.

Beside probably make him tired they will not do him harm and may work.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

From experience, smoking reduces the amount of oxygen that you intake every time you inhale, because part of what you inhale are smoke. Which by itself can cause many health problems.

If your body is not receiving enough oxygen, part of your body, usually your limbs starting from your fingers and toes, starts to dry off.

Sure smoking can improve circulation since it increases blood pressure, but circulating blood with limited oxygen in them is useless. :/

Smoking does cut out the normal flow of Oxygen to the main arteries and organs. Some people have even got 'gangrene' from long term smoking.

    Good luck! :)

Acupuncture, which involves inserting thin needles into various points on your body, may reduce peripheral neuropathy symptoms.
