one week isn't a lot of time to visit Thailand and learn about it's culture, nature and beaches. my advice is visit Bangkok for 3 or 4 days and Pattaya (Beach) for 3 or 4 days. Pattaya is only about a 2 hour trip from Bangkok.

Hello. As the others have said, it really isn't very long to spend there so it depends on what interests you and how much money you have to spend. I would def advise the floating market. It takes about 1 hour to get there from Bangkok and most tai drivers would love the fare. Here you will see a lot of locals buying their groceries etc. They also sell touristy items. A real once in a lifetime experience. You should also visit as many temples as you can. The thai peole are very friendly and will tell you the best places to go. You should travel by tuk tuk as much as possible as this is something you would never see here in England! If you can get to Ko Samui, you should try. They have the famous big buddha and also snake farms, beautiful viewpoints etc. You can also attend thai cooking classes at various spots and ride an elephant. If you visit www.sawadee.com, this will give you lots of information about the different places that you may like to visit. Hope this helps. :-)

I have only been to Bangkok and that would be my nomination for one must see place in Thailand. It has so much to see and do that you could spend you vacation there and be satisfied ...

well, one week is not alot of time to spend - and you can go to the "name" places - many of which are mentioned above - or you can get off the beaten path a bit too.. I wouldn't say that too many of the beaches have a cultural aspect to them or are near that type of thing.. but I think you will find some elements of what you are looking for almost everywhere you go - enjoy!!
