2 pregnancy related questions!?

I'm 9 months pregnant and I just remembered that when I was at the end of my four months I ate sushi (fried cali rolls, cali rolls, teriyaki rolls and eel rolls) and now I'm freaked out that that one time that I ate it may harm my baby, could it?

Also, I have NOT drank soda for longer than I've been pregnant (so meaning, I haven't drank any through out my whole pregnancy and even long before I became pregnant) b/c I'm not much of a soda drinker but I have the urge to drink some 7UP that I have in my fridge, is it okay if I drink it?

7 UP should be fine as it's caffiene free.

Looks like you're okay with the sushi too, here's what I found on www.babycenter.com "

Question: Is it safe to eat sushi or seared fish during pregnancy?

Answer: Some types of sushi, such as California rolls (which contain steamed crab) and cooked eel, are fine to eat while you're pregnant. But it's best to avoid eating the kinds that contain raw seafood, such as tuna.

Fresh, raw seafood is potentially risky because it can contain parasites such as tapeworm, which, if they grow large enough, could rob your body of nutrients needed for your growing baby. Freezing and cooking deep-sixes the parasites. For this reason, many Japanese restaurants that specialize in sushi use frozen rather than fresh fish.

But restaurants in the United States aren't required to freeze fish before serving it raw."

If you are really freaked out, call your doctor, but I think you're probably alright. Enjoy the 7 Up and good luck with the baby!

I'm not sure what a teriyaki roll is, but the other sushi you mentioned contain only cooked seafood and are fine to eat during pregnancy. The main sodas to avoid are those with caffeine in them. Although the sugar in the 7UP is not a great nutritional choice, a 7UP now and then isn't going to hurt your or the baby, unless you have been told that you have gestational diabetes. If you have gestational (or type I or type II) diabetes, you need to check with your doctor.

The one time you ate sushi is nothing to worry about and neither is the soda. I drank coffee tea and soda throughout all three of my pregnancies and all of my children are very healthy and always have been. 7up will be fine to drink because is has no caffine. If you have not been drinking caffine and wanted a caffinated beverage it would probably cause you to either become sick to your stomach or have a strong headache but will not hurt the baby.

I wouldn't worry about the sushi as long as you aren't eating it constantly- the tests you have recieved from your OB since at four months would show any retardation the mercury in that food could cause. If you are still concerned discuss this with your OB.

As far as the 7up-go for it, it has no caffiene, which is the main reason not to drink soda.

A one time eating sushi shouldn't harm the baby.

The problem with soda is the caffine and 7 Up doesn't have any in it so it should be fine. New studies have found that 2 cups of caffine have little or no effect on the unborn child, but there is still some speculations surrounding that.

I drank 7 Up with my first pregnancy and my daughter is fine.(It tricked my body into thinking it was getting caffine and kept the headaches away.)

    Good luck!

You can drink that 7up that is in you fridge .You shouldn't have more than 2 service of caffeine per day ,so once in awhile if you feel like drink a little bit of soda it's just fine ,,

I have no idea about the seafood stuff, but the 7up should be okay. I drank Mountain Dew throughout all 3 of my pregnancies. It's the caffiene that the docs don't like and 7UP is caffiene free. Congrats.

They dont' want you to drink a lot of caffine, and 7up is caffine free! So enjoy! And don't worry about the sushi, it won't hurt you if you eat if once or even a few times. They just don't want you to get food poisioning!

#1.) You are FINE. The sushi eating would only affect the baby if you like GORGED on it every week. In moderation, it should be fine.

#2.) Have the 7-up. Go nuts. No baby was ever bron with Fetal Soda Syndrome.

ok i really dont know what to tell you on the sushi....ask your dr. but on the soda it wont hurt you to drink alittle...i drank alot. it makes your baby more active because of the sugar but with as much as i drank i had a healthy 8lb 10 oz baby. so i doubt it will hurt for you to drink alittle soda. the dr says no bc of the caffiene, but the drs say not to feed babies cereal too early, and i started mine at 6 wks bc she is a big girl and needs extra.
