Which is better for a relationship? Opposite characters or similar traits?

I say neither. If you are both in the extreme opposite, you will just keep on arguing. If you are both too similar, one can easily get bored by the relationship. In fact some girls would intentionally create problems in the relationship because they find it too boring, too predictable. Opposites can get together as long as their is a commonality that can bind them together.

Like in my case, I am basically a slob (not keen in making the bed, cleaning the room and everything) while she is Ms. Clean because she is allergic to dust. We argue sometimes about it but what makes us stick together is our commitment to make things work. Compromise is very important.

Similar traits. 'Opposites attract' is great in electro magnetic field applications, but when it comes to romantic relationships they are destructive. You are ALWAYS at war about something.You are rarely ever on the same page and it's always a struggle when both are always wanting something different and doing everything to get their way which includes fighting. When 2 people are are alike in , morals, things they like etc, they don't get "bored" which seems to be the big reason people say opposites are better when it's just a lust issue. No, they see eye to eye most the time and enjoy doing the things they like with someone they love being with. You have BOTH friendship AND romance.

Depends....relationships are very interesting creatures and you can't break it down to science like this...For some people, opposite characters, for others, similar traits..what it really boils down to is, do you guys like each other, like spending time together, get along well, etc....both opposites and similarities can add or subtract from a relationship.

Spend time getting to know each other and what you mean to each other and let that be your guide. Your heart and your mind should both agree on how you feel about someone.....

Actually a combo of both traits is best---at least it is for me and my hubs.

He's soft-spoken, I'm loud. He's a little shy, I'm bold. He's mechanically incline, me not so much. He's hard rock, I'm Christian music. He likes Sci-Fi, I'm adventure.

We both enjoy cooking, talking and laughing together, going to the gym, watching shows together, shopping together, and just plain hanging out together.

We're each other's best friend.

Compatibility...is the most important thing. Like Kayleen said, you have to have some things in common. I married a woman who had absolutely nothing in common with me. My kids even ask us why we got married.

simiar traits. but not being the same person. its goos to have alot in common. but alittle diversity is good in a relatioship.
