Has anyone replaced windows in Ottawa?
I just got an estimate to replace the windows in my home - R5 windows, all PVC. Holy smokes $17,000!
Any one have any recommendations as to other companies I could get estimates from?

Yup, In winter too. My landlord is a jerk (Ottawa housing, but market rent)
Anyways, from m past experience, I suggest Verdun windows, just on 417 near Vars (Rockdale ave). Their quite competitive with the Ottawa Market (613) 443-2694
or try Vally windows and siding, I see them lots on T.V.

I can't speak for Ottowa itself, but I know that here in the US, you really need to shop around and do your homework.
I've seen estimates vary by up to 200-300 percent! Do some research on the web to ensure you understand everything these salespeople are telling you and you can make an informed decision.
Remember, these sales people are there to get the highest possible price they can from you. If you are informed and let them know they will be bidding against other companies your prices should start dropping.
One question I always ask is "Who is your biggest competitor and why is your product / service better?" (Then give that company a call to bid as well.)
