how do u do that cute "poof thing" up at the top of the hair?

kinda like gwen stefani or something, but easy to do and still looks glam? do u have to have specially cut bangs, or can u do it with long hair too? what to use, bobby pins, hairspray etc? i can never get it to look like i want it to..

Update:

to brian, it's kinda like the avatar's hair underneath yours! she sounds like she knows what she's doing :)

I JUST PART OFF A SQUARE ON THE TOP OF MY HEAD AND TEASE THE BOTTOM PART AND JUST COMB THE FRONT OVER IT, ADDING SOME HAIRSPRAY.

\WHEN I DO A PONYTAIL WITH THE HUMP, AFTER I SQUARE-OFF, I PULL THE REST OF MY HAIR IN A PONYTAIL AND STYLE THAT PART AND THEN I DO THE TEASE AND COMB OVER THING AND HOLD WITH BOBBY PINS OR A PONYTAIL HOLDER.

    It's a faux-pompadore...

I pull my bangs and some additional hair close to the forehead together, twist and clip it. Hair spray and blowdry to stay well.

its easier with shorter hair or bangs. i have really thin hair so it dosnt work that great for me, but when i do it i gather the my bangs and twist the end on top of my hair and crisscross bobbypin it. just not to tight. its pretty easy. twisting the end will allow you how much puffiness....
