Does anyone know how much an "open ticket" costs?

My aunt has everything, but she loves to travel. My husband and I were thinking of getting her an open ticket to anywhere in the world or anywhere in the US. Any help would be appreciated.

    It doesn't exist.

An open ticket is based on a full fare ticket to somewhere..

    Example

    Boston to San Francisco OPEN

    San Francisco to Boston OPEN

This was the OLD days when the stupid airline rules were not in existance. Great for business clients or people who had no idea when they were going to come home.

They don't exist anymore because people have to purchase in advance and follow rules and limited availability on flights to book. If you were to purchase a truly OPEN ticket it would be many thousands of dollars.

The best thing to do is figure out how much you want to spend.

Go to your local travel agent and purchase a gift certificate.

Have them give you a bunch of brochures and cut and past a collage of ideas to give her.

'Open tickets''Flex Ticket' or 'No Restriction' still exist, but there is a penalty that you have to pay for changing, this can vary from $50 - $200.

These tickets are generally more expensive than the restrictive tickets, but offers you the chance to change your itinirary. Like myself, I take open ticket because I'm not always sure when I'm travelling.

Most of the cheaper ticket have restrictions on em limiting you to travel only on that day. If you miss you're flight or decide to extend your stay then you'll have to buy an additional ticket.

Check with your airline to see what your options are.
