I have a ring set in my family that I want to get restored, can I put a new larger size diamond in it ?
The ring set is and antique which at one point had som cz stones put in it. I would like to get it re-tipped and set with real diamonds.
The center diamond is larger than the one on each side, so I was wondering if when I got it replaced if I could place a larger diamond in its place? If so will the ring still be ok?

Of course jewelers replace old with new all the time. They would be happy to do, and you would be happy to have the living legacy forever, which you could pass down.

You would probably need new prongs, in the setting, otherwise it might put too much stress on the old one, and you might lose your diamond.

you should ask whoever is restoring the ring set, really.
