I think some of the Christian music is as bad as some of the non-religious stuff. I mean, it's ok to praise God, and to sing and dance even, but when you take something and put it to a hard rock beat, then it changes the meaning, no matter what the meaning was meant to be.
Don't feel bad about wanted to dance!! Dance can be wonderful, not only for your body, but for your spirit as well. Dancing with guys isn't bad either, as long as you set boundaries for clean dancing.

I Corinthians 10:31 - "Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do ALL for the glory of God." I guess if you are doing it in a way that you feel honors and glorifies the Lord then it is fine.
To me content in music is important. For instance, I wouldn't see any way I could listen to rappers calling women "hoes" in a way that would honor God since He teaches us to respect and love women - as well as men and children. THIS IS JUST
AN EXAMPLE - I AM NOT SAYING YOUR MUSIC DOES THAT. If you dance for exercise I believe there is also some Christian music that is specifically for that or at least has the rhythm that would work for dancing for exercise.
This is something you have to sort out for yourself. I believe that if I honor God and His word then I will choose music that does the same. But then that's me.

someone is playing with your mind and using GOD to impose THEIR OWN silly, ignorant beliefs on you. dancing and listening to music is far from evil or sinful. you would think people who believe in god might focus on some of the real tragedies of life, and i find it rather ironic that more often than not, people who believe in god...whatever god they happen to believe in, not only judge other people who are doing nothing more than living their life in a manner that brings them happiness, but also support some of the most truly heinous things that their precious leaders in engage in. you want religion, not science? well have you ever heard any gospel music? those people are hoopin' and hollerin' and havin' themselves a dandy good time. so you can choose to listen to music and keep your heart true to your god, or you can listen to someone who has no business judging you, and stop dancing, and miss out on doing something that you like. it would be a real shame if you chose to do that, but it is up to you. your relationship with god is between you and god, not between you and what everyone else believes.

If you have a mind and are capable of using it in a rational, intelligent manner, then you will surely come to the right conclusion for yourself. Of course, listening to music of any kind is NOT bad. You have to decide, however, whether you'd rather think for yourself or a be a slave to whatever the authorities in your life dictate.

Nothing wrong with dancing... Why would dancing be bad in the first place? So long as it's for fun.... although I know this lady who "dances for" her husband... but that's between a husband and wife, so I figure that's ok, too...
Sounds to me like your friend is one of those fundamentalist pentecostal extremists...
Did you see any of "Dancing with the Stars"... awesome showmanship, athleticism.... wrong? sinful? Sorry- don't get it.

King David danced, so you keep right on dancing, and listen to the music of your choose. Nothing that God created is bad, it just the way some people use or abuse it. God to said to make a joyful noise. Read psalm 150.

Dancing and music is a wonderful thing, and the merengue is a beautiful dance. I don't see a problem.

There is nothing wrong with it. And, it is not a sin to dance to flirt with men. Thats hog-wash. The bible doesnt forbid single women and men flirting.
How else are you supposed to find a mate and get married and celebrate the sacrament of marriage? What? Wait for your parents to pick a spouse for you?

What is wrong in Christianity is addiction. Many Christians are addicted to music, and can't be without it. They have it on all the time. God wants your mind and you to use it for Him and for His glory, not waste it by listenging to music because it makes you feel good. God dealt with me years ago on that and since I gave it up and brought it under control God has opened my eyes and given me understand of Him that I never had before. Music is not a sign of spirituality. Read the story in Exodus 32 about the Golden calf, and what were they doing? Singing!
