What can be causing chronic fever and chills for the last 6 months ?
I am going to see a doctor in a few days.
3x in the last 6 months I had chills and a high fever (102-103) that lasted 24 hours or less. In the past two weeks when I have been feeling cold, I took my temperature and I had a low grade fever (99.8-100.6). This happened 4 times but in 2-3 hour the fever is gone and I am back to normal.
I had a thyroidectomy after thyroid cancer, the surgery was 3 1/2 years ago. I take levothyroxine.

You could have a chronic, low grade infection. Did you have any other treatment for your cancer, such as radiation or chemotherapy? Both of those treatments will decrease your immune system's ability to fight disease.
There are some infections that don't make you very sick, but can persist for a long time. A couple of examples that come to mind are: walking pneumonia and mononucleosis. If you have a mild form of either one of those diseases, you can have persistent fever.
I think it is important that you be checked by your doctor. You might need some lab tests to help determine what is going on. Hope you feel better soon.
