The UK or United Kingdom is a politcal entity and comprises the countries, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain is a geological entity, that is it is the name of the Island that England, Wales, and Scotland occupy.

Think of England, Wales, Scotland, and NI as being like US states and the UK being like the US. Great Britian would then be equivalent to America.

The name United Kingdom refers to the union of what were once four separate countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland (though most of Ireland is now independent). The UK's full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Great Britain comprises only of England, Scotland and Wales

it's not really good not to know such things :)

The full title is ,"The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island". England is just one of the countries that make this up.

the united kingdom includes the great island on the nicely suited (this island is observed as great Britain: great=great, as in the great undergo or u.s. important) plus Northern eire. England is definitely one of three international locations on the great island, alongside with Scotland and Wales. .
