Bursitis can be brought on by things such as exposure to wet or cold. Sometimes it just helps to keep the joint dry and warm. There are prescriptions that can help as well.

Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa sacs. You have a sac on each leg located on the outer - upper part of the thigh bone.
Make an appointment with a rhumatologist. If they're inflamed the swelling will show up on an x-ray. The only thing that really provides good long term relief is an injection of steroid's into the sac. It sounds painful, but its not the worst thing you'll ever experience. A couple of days after the shot you'll be glad you did it.
