Gripe water is a herbal home remedy for babies with colic, gas, teething pain or other stomach ailments. Its chief active ingredients are ginger, dill and fennel and sometimes chamomile. It is typically dispensed directly to the infant with a dropper in liquid form. Adults have also been known to take gripe water for soothing intestinal pains, gas, or other stomach ailments, but in larger doses.

Gripe water is a product which may help to relieve the painful symptoms associated with infant colic. Gripe water may be recommended by pediatricians, nurses, lactation consultants, midwives and doulas in the medical community. Despite it being an accepted part of recommendations even from Pediatricians, no formal evaluation of gripe water has ever been undertaken.

Gripe water is an herbal remedy for fussy/gassy babies. I used it whenever my some had hiccups (which would make him cry and cry!) and it was the only thing that made the hiccups go away. I honestly think it works for mild stomach upset in babies, but my evidence is purely anecdotal, so I can't make any definitive claims. Hope this helps! I recommend Little Tummys brand, btw.

It is a liquid to settle a babies stomach and help with colic. In years gone by it contained alcohol, but this is no longer the case.

obviously it's to wind babies but be careful cos there is some alcohol in it I believe. If your baby has wind perhaps you should drink the gripe water!!
