the 360 can play DVD movies

    also

    VIDEO files

wmv(windows media videos) and avi(with spring update 1)

    OR MUSIC FILES

    mp3 and wma

OR if ur movie files is nt WMV format

You need a PC with the Windows XP Media Center Edition connected to it through a router (wireless is fine) and download an update on the 360 itself. You can also plug in an external PC hard drive to the USB ports on the 360.

Last time I checked, WMV files worked but not .AVI. Don't remember whether .MPG worked but I think it was only .wmv and .jpg when using the extrenal USB Hard Drive.

U need to have a hacked xbox, which means that u wont be abl to have Live. Id never hack my 360, old yes, 360 no, simply because it has so many good games that blow ur mind online. E.g. Gears of War, Halo3, CoD4. Its just easier to buy games. Also its illegal to torrent them if theyre actual commercial games, in which case ur makin the company lose money, and if they lose money, they might stop making that series, no more good games!!
