Let me get this straight: God wanted humans to torture and crucify His son so that He could forgive humanity?

Seriously?

He wanted humans to torture and crucify his only son so He could forgive us our sins?

Torturing and crucifying Jesus was -pleasing- to the Lord?

So pleasing He forgave us our sins?

This is what you call a "loving god"?

He couldn't have just forgiven the sins without the torture and crucifixion? He isn't that loving? He couldn't have let Jesus make a heart-felt prayer to forgive us our sins and skipped the torture and crucifixion?

He couldn't let Jesus take over the world this time around? Had to wait for some unknown future time?

This is the Good Shepherd: the one who has done nothing while millions of His sheep kill each other century after century after century, most of it in His name?

After 2000 years of trying to get it right, this is the best you got to show for it?

This is God's "Perfect Plan"?

Seriously?

Sarcasm is so unbecoming and doesn't help in a discussion. It works like this God is Holy He can not be in the presence of that which isn't holy. He gives man laws to help them to be holy The laws show man that he is not as good or holy as he thinks he is or could be. Since not being holy will keep man from God and man can not make a big enough sacrifice to correct the discrepency between him and God ,God takes on the carnate in order that a sacrifice worthy enough can be made. Now i realize you don't want to get the idea ( I say this because I believe you are an intelligent person) but that is more the premise than what you were proposing.

Orion...let me say first my heart goes out to you for you loss..God is just..he cannot tolerate sin...there had to be an atonement for the sin of mankind. When we understand that God has laid down the foundations of law and that he cannot over look the penalties of the law being broken, then we can understand that he gave the ultimate gift . God looks at his creation that he so desperately loves..and knowing full well that his only way to reunite us back to him..is through the blood of Christ..He was willing to give his son in the expectation of gaining back his creation...you ask why could he just not forgive without the torture and the crucifying......this is the penalty of sin...the curse of sin...he took it upon himself...and yes it did please him....but it also broke his heart..you have to understand God was Jesus.....

God's perfect plan was that adam and eve didn't sin so that there wouldn't even be death on earth. When he decided to send Jesus, the perfect plan was probably along the lines of on an appointed day Jesus would be taken to the temple and praised and worshipped and at some point he would have simply died. The perfect plan wasn't for him to be unjustly sentenced to be crucified, I assure you.

He did not "want" torture and crucifixion. It was necessary to show his unwavering love for us (you) in having His son suffer, in the flesh, a most horrifying and painful death. One sacrifice to free us from sin. Tangible proof of His desire to reconcile with us. I would imagine, if there was not the crucifixion you would say, "A meer prayer to cover the sins of the world? Is that the best...?" If you truly want to know Him and seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. The answers will become clear.

God did not WANT us to kill Jesus, but He knew that we would.

Jesus did not HAVE TO go through with being crucified, but He CHOSE TO, so that He would become the perfect sacrifice (He did sacrifice His life) so that we could be forgiven our sins (He forgave us on the cross) if we want them forgiven.

It is God's perfect plan, but it is man's poor use of His gift.

Without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sins.

Sounds wierd to our modern ears doesn't it?

God's perfect plan involved the Perfect Sacrifice.

Here's something to think about...in Revelation, when it speaks of the wedding supper between Christ and His bride (the church),

of all the many titles He could have chosen to use, He chose The Lamb.

We were bought with a price.

Seriously??? (sounds like Grey's Anatomy LOL)

To answer your question, (before Jesus) in the Old Testament to be forgiven of your sins you were to sacrifice your best and unblemished livestock to God. So EVERY time you sinned you were to go out and find your best/unblemished livestock and sacrifice it. Every time you think a bad thought, curse, are jealous, gossip, lose your temper etc you'd have to go out and give a sacrifice to God.

God then sent Jesus to Earth. He's the best, unblemished, sin-free human, and GOD sacrificed his only Son so that we can be forgiven for our sins.

It takes the shedding of blood for the remission of sins.

The only perfect sacrifice was His Son.

God is holy and He can't and won't violate that. We can't enter heaven with sin. Jesus provides a pardon for our sin.

Justice demands a sacrifice. If sin were allowed in heaven, they sickness and death would be there to because "the wages of sin is death."

He can't just ignore the sin problem..................and neither can you.

God created earth and man perfect. But when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s commands, He had to punish them. A judge who pardons law-breakers isn’t a righteous judge. Likewise, overlooking sin would make the holy God unjust. Death is God’s just consequence for sin. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Even good works cannot make up for wrongs against the holy God. Compared to His goodness, “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6b). Ever since Adam’s sin, every human has been guilty of disobeying God’s righteous laws. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin is not just big things like murder or blasphemy, but also includes love of money, hatred of enemies, and deceit of tongue and pride. Because of sin, everyone has deserved death – eternal separation from God in hell.

The promise required an innocent death.

He promised He would send a sinless Sacrifice to take the punishment they deserved (Genesis 3:15). Until then, men would sacrifice innocent lambs, showing their repentance from sin and faith in the future Sacrifice from God who would bear their penalty. God reaffirmed His promise of the Sacrifice with men such as Abraham and Moses. Herein lies the beauty of God’s perfect plan: God Himself provided the only sacrifice (Jesus) who could atone for the sins of His people. God’s perfect Son fulfilled God’s perfect requirement of God’s perfect law. It is perfectly brilliant in its simplicity. “God made Him (Christ), who knew no sin, to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

He took the penalty for your sins (past, present and future) upon Himself for you. All you have to do is accept Him and live
